Fell in love with Devonport library from the first sight. It's really beautiful, well maintained, and situated near the top hang out spots. It's kinda like an oasis amid the bustling town.nnBook collection is quite good, and they have plenty cozy chairs to read with beautiful view.

I visited Devonport Library today with a friend, excited to see the famous round window that so many people have taken beautiful photos of, according to reviews. We were very mindful to be quiet and respectful, knowing it’s a library, and waited until we saw no one using the window for reading or photography before we took a few photos ourselves. The only person nearby was a white male loudly playing games on his computer, speaking into a microphone with phrases like “grab the gun, grab the gun.” Despite this, we remained polite, whispering to each other in Chinese while quietly taking pictures.nnHowever, just as we started, a librarian came over, looked at us, and rudely rolled her eyes and threw her hands up, saying, “Ah goosh! Photo???? This is a library!!!” It was a shockingly rude and unnecessary reaction, especially since we were being quiet and respectful. She then went on to gossip with other staff members, making us feel extremely uncomfortable, while the white male continued his loud gaming undisturbed.nnI can’t help but feel this treatment was racially motivated. It seems I was treated differently because of my appearance or the fact that I was speaking a language other than English. This experience was upsetting, especially considering I’ve seen many diverse people take photos at the same window without issue, as shown in other reviews and social media posts.

Very beautiful place no doubt but very noisy. Children screaming, group of old people are talking/laughing soo loud .its like they’re in a bar or party and the security or librarians didn’t even say anything. Not a very good place to read and study
