A quick thank you to the team at Christchurch Hospital Emergency Department. From the moment I arrived, I was met with professionalism, care, and efficiency. The nurses, doctors, and support staff ensured I was comfortable and well-informed throughout my visit. Their compassion and professionalism made a stressful situation much more manageable. I left impressed by the excellent care I received and the dedication of the entire team. You all are doing a great job!

Sincerely, I deeply appreciate all the Emergency department nurses and doctors who work tirelessly in this hospital to help patients, including my 90-year-old grandmother. Without these dedicated individuals, we wouldn't be where we are today. Respect.

GO TO PEGASUS - I don’t normally put reviews online but oh if only I could rate this negative stars. The nurses at the emergency department doesn’t know how to do anything but take blood pressure and temperature. They have no sympathy for their patients. My partner had to ask them to help my sister that was hyperventilating and they continued to stand around staring at her until he got frustrated and yelled at them to help. He then got called “intimidating” and the nurses called security. If your loved one is in pain, there are no other patients around and there’s 10+ nurses staring at your loved one and not attempting to help, you would also feel a type of way. They then took her inside the wards and all I see are nurses laughing around and gossiping like idiots. The most disgusting hospital I’ve ever been to. The most RUDEST nurses who don’t know how to handle situations properly. If you’d want to get checked properly in Christchurch, go to Pegasus hospital and do yourself a favour. Thanks.

This is the absolute worst medical system I have ever come across with the absolute most shocking and disgusting service from the receptionist and nurses, do not bother coming here if your life is in danger and need immediate medical attention as they do not care and have no sympathy. I took my family member in at approximately 5am as she was hyperventilating and having a hard time breathing, we called an ambulance earlier when we were at home but they took too long to arrive so we took her into the hospital ourselves. The receptionist asked for her details and we answered on behalf, it was clearly visible she was unable to physically stand and they proceeded to ask her to walk over to the counter to take her blood pressure, with no help at all we had to bring her over on our shoulders but there was another patient was being catered for and they took their heart rate as they were seated. They then told us to sit back down and wait.nnHer symptoms started progressively getting worse as we were waiting and I asked the receptionist nurse in a calm manner if someone can check on her ASAP but they just give me the same lame answers “Someone will be with her soon, we can’t give you an estimate time, we don’t know”. There were plenty of nurses out the back just chatting to each other and standing around. My family member then collapsed on the ground and I pointed it out to the nurses for help and they all just blankly stared at her from behind the reception doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It was then out of emotional distress I had to yell down the reception for help, calling them out for not doing their job then they all finally proceeded to come out and check on her but immediately called the security on me because I was being “Intimidating” Seriously? It really had to get to the point that I had to start shouting down the whole hospital because NOBODY was doing anything just for them to make a move? They all proceeded to stand in a circle around her as she was on the floor desperately gasping for air in the middle of the waiting room and they brought their little wheelie chair but told her to get up and sit on it, this did not feel real because she couldn’t breathe and she couldn’t stand and they just stared at her making her get up on her own I had to grab her arm myself to get her up on the chair since all the nurses just want to socially distance themselves and keep their hands clean.nnAs they finally took her out the back , they got the security to kick me out as I was deemed “offensive”. This is the most disgusting attitude and service from these nurses, it makes me feel sick that these people are in this line of work, do not even bother coming here as they will not save your life if it is under danger. Save your time and your life and go to 24 Hour Pegasus and pay the price for better medical service because these people are untrained, unprofessional , have no sympathy, no care at all and they all just stand around like it’s a social gathering playing dress up nurses.

One of the most dismissive hospitals in the country. Showed up at ED about 7:30am the other day and waited a few hours in so much pain and discomfort. Could hardly walk and was dizzy and faint. Had the doctor speak to me for less than a minute and he said it’ll be a 4-6 hour wait to actually see him and I was recommended to book and online gp appointment. I’d already been to my gp 3 times in the last week and had multiple phone calls with her, including one the evening before I came in to ED. She is the one who instructed me to go to ED if needed. Waited about another hour just for the nurse to come in and say the doctor is not going to see me now and she is instead. She was completely dismissive of everything even with my complex medical history. Told me to take meds that I’ve already been taking that aren’t helping and that she wanted me to sit in the waiting room and eat something to see if those same meds are going to help when I already know they aren’t. She said was going to discharge me either way so I walked out.
