Christchurch Bus Interchange

The bus exchange is very modern, it feels like an airport terminal. The staff at the ticket booth are extremely helpful and informative. Once you purchase a metro card fares are very cheap and free returns within a period. The buses all seem to link through or journey start/end at the exchange. The buses are clean and modern and electric. Great public transport system.

For the organization and facilities of the station it should be 5 stars. For the quality of the information system and general management of bus services it should be 1-2 stars. Buses leave and stop 3 stations later for 15 minutes coz they have the wrong car operating the tour. The parallel bus going the same direction leaves same time and disappears from his schedule as well. Buses advised on the electronic information system at stops never appear. Only few buses have a track information system, most of them don't give you any information where you are - very annoying in 21st century. My guess it's a badly managed system from the top as drivers in general are very friendly.

The quality of the space is outstanding, making it an ideal place to take a rest after a shopping trip.

Christchurch has a modern, post-earthquake built bus staion with plenty of seating, good signage and not just one but two sets of toilets What it doesn't have is any storage ockers for luggage. Huh? A major interchange that is a stop for long distance travel, and nowhere to leave your gear? Actually, if you ask at the ticket desk, they direct you to a small shop on the concourse This takes in cases, provided you have booked online which you didn' know about and can't do because the bus station has no wifi. They also charge $8 per bag fair enough but stick a compulsory 'insurance' charge of $3 on top, which you can't decline. So why not say the cost is $11, including insurance? I have given one star bcause Google doesn't let you do minus numbers; my actual rating would be MINUS 5!
