Me and my friends got two rooms at this Hotel. One - the elevator wasn't swiping our hotel card so we would be stuck on ground floor waiting for another person staying at the hotel to swipe their card so we can get to our room. Two - Our room was wrongfully accused of disturbance from reception when it was NOT us. Three - We had drunk people using the fire exit due to the elevators not working and that is really unsafe for our people trying to find the best stay possible in Auckland City. I was disappointed with the service, the security was great on the other hand. They were very helpful and lended a hand here and there to ensure the safety of the customers staying in the hotel. Also a few things in our room were broken like power plugs and some things in the kitchen. Would not stay here again and I wish I could get a refund.
Good experience. Clean. 2bedrooms were very spacious, 2 balconies and full cooking facilities included. Only downside was the free parking that was included was off site 6minute walk. Cost us an extra $30/night for onsite parking.
A good location and reasonable rooms. However, they are a little dated. Access is also difficult in the one, slow lift, especially from the car park. There is only limited car parking, so suggest calling ahead to make sure, especially as some of the parks are small and could be difficult to get a larger vehicle into. The front desk staff are friendly, but we did have a small billing issue. It was resolved relatively quickly.
The location of the hotel is very good. You are close to a lot of dining and the waterfront. The rooms were clean and pretty big. Since these are apartment style rooms, they only get serviced once a week, but for short stays, this is ok.
We stayed there for ten days in March. The apartment itself is very nice, spacious and we loved it. It was everything else with the Waldorf Celestion that we had problems with, mostly the parking. They must have at least 200 rooms, yet have 12 parking spaces. Yes, 12, and unless you like walking 18 minutes they claim it's 3 minutes, which is a lie, we timed the walk each time. everytime you go to your car, it sucks. It rained for several days we were there, and we had to walk in it. We got back very late at night a few times, and again, had to walk back to the Waldorf. It really sucked, as one person in our group was disabled. I would NOT recommend the Waldorf Celestion for any group of people over 25. If your lucky, you can reserve one of those precious 12 spaces at a cost of $25 a day, if not, your walking. This is why I'm giving the Celestion two stars.
Great location, very convenient and cental. However service is very average, all laundry and cleaning has to be done, at $185 per night you would expect this to be done. It was also not made clear that the check out time is 10.00am. The photos look better than it actually is. We booked a double room and we we went to go to bed we found it was two singles pushed together... not impressed by that. Also very minimal supplies are offered next to no toiletries ect. Overall and average experience
Location is great and the facilities are enough for the night and similar to most hotels in the area. The room was noisy due to a fan or vent which I only discovered after stepping outside and not hearing it!! Thought there was cleaning truck outside. Good bed so that made up for the noise!!
Nice rooms with all amenities. Reception staff very friendly. Room 1502 faced East with the morn Sun blazing into the bedroom. Even with all the curtains drawn the air conditioning struggled to maintain a nice temperature. The ducted Air Con had been sealed off & the Outside Air Con was disconnected.
Absolutely the worst hotel I have stayed in. Dirty, worn out furniture see the blood/poop/chocolate stain guessing game in attached photos. Was expecting a nice apartment from the promo pics, but these must be from elsewhere. Could have stayed somewhereanywhere much nicer for a smaller price. In addition to being the grossest, it also had the added benefit of being the noisiest. If you are considering going, DON'T. Even if you want to go to a concert at Spark arena, it is much better to walk a bit further than to stay here. YUK!!
My then boyfriend and I stayed a single night. The room was clean and tidy, we had a balcony to the service avenue beneath. I believe it was the fifth or sixth floor. Beware; the balcony's are coated in a strange tarmac like substance that melts in the Feb heat. I stepped out for a cig and found my feet painted black from it. Took half an hour to scrub off and stained the inner carpet mat to the door. Perhaps it is simply a residue from the commuter car fumes. Regardless it is disgusting and the hotels responsibility. A deliberate set up, maybe? They proceeded to charge my boyfriend for the cleaning fee for a mess that was directly their causing. $300NZD. When he attempted to dispute the charge over the phone, the woman claimed he was racist because he is a white American. It's funny, these people saying that. I did not miss the contempt they had for me, a Māori woman. The side long glances and laughing in Hindi as they pointed at me. Thank you, incompetent receptionist. Auckland has things to offer but there are some communities that will happily remind you, you are an unwelcome stranger in your own land. I do not recommend this horrendous establishment.
