Location is great, so central to everything and close to the waterfront. Rooms are tiny but the beds were super comfortable. The bathroom like most Ibis Budget's are a bit of a disaster with the shower curtain and no shower cubicle leaving water going everywhere. The high step into the bathroom was a bit dangerous especially when you forget during the night. Overall, would recommend as the price cant be beat.
Room was comfortable and warm. Door to the very small bathroom needed to be repaired during our stay, so we had one day where we had to wedge the door closed to be able to use the shower. Shower curtain was not big enough to prevent water escaping. Had to ask for shampoo, and didn't get a bathmat on our first night. Close to city centre, which was great, if a bit noisy at times. If you want a central, cheap place to stay, this isn't a bad choice.
When you look at the photos of this hotel, you think: "Ok, that looks nice." The shock comes when you enter the room. Even the term 'room' is a real exaggeration. 'Storage room' is more appropriate. A tiny double bed almost stands in the way of even entering the room. Our two travel bags? We somehow squeeze them in unopened. Opening does not work, we would have to leave the room. Of course there is no chair and no table! They wouldn't have fit in. We close the access door and now find a second door. The toilet and shower are hidden behind it. The shower and toilet share this miserable dark hole, separated only by a shower curtain better known as a 'rag'. The worst thing though is the smell. Sorry, stench is more appropriate. Window for ventilation. Well, if you call an opening of approx. 30 x 70 cm closed with glass a window... . Oh, I forgot: there is another balcony that is actually one square meter in size. We could put our travel bags there. Oh, that doesn't work, the door is so narrow that the travel bags don't fit through. We turned around, checked out and looked for something else. Ibis Budget, Auckland: an absolute no-go!
The hotel is situated in a very convenient location at the very heart of Auckland with bus stations, bars, restaurants and a couple of supermarkets near by. BUT we stayed in the smallest room I've ever seen in my life! There was barely enough space to open 1 suitcase. And the walls were very thin so we could hear the traffic outside and our neighbours as well. It was noisy most of the night and the light on the air conditioner was quite bright too so if you do decide to stay at the Ibis Budget I recommend you taking eye-mask and ear plugs with you. Otherwise, you aren't going to get a good sleep. On the bright side, the bed was nice, soft and comfortable and we had our own bathroom a very tiny one like the ones you see on planes Rooms: The room we stayed at was very small. About 6-9 Square metres with 1.5 sq.m. bathroom. There was barely enough space to open one suitcase. But then you have to close the suit case to have the space to walk through the room. Walls are very thin and it can be very noisy. It would be nice is the hotel staff provided eye-masks and ear plugs to their guests. Nearby activities: There are plenty of bars, restaurants, pool bars, karaoke bars, cafes around the hotel. There is also the casino, the Skytower, cinema, shopping mall, a couple of food courts and supermarkets, the main train station and bus stations around the place.
We booked for two seperate one night stay overs because of the location to the harbour Very disappointing rooms that the tiny broken and well worn hotel. Not worth the price. Service was friendly. Great to be able to store luggage before checking in and after checking out. Place needs a serious refurbishment. Won't return.Rooms: 1/5
Great location, basic room is basic but has everything you need if your attitude is 'just a place to sleep' and you can't go wrong with the price. I stay here often when I'm in auckland alone cos it's a great deal :
Room was very bright and clean, though the bathroom was tiny. Still for the location and price it was fine. Only thing is that no matter how high you are you can still hear loud people on the street.
Great location in the CBD, near to Queen Street and the Harbour. Very easy to get around and lots within walking distance. You can even walk it to Maungawhau / Mount Eden in less than an hour. The rooms are basic but comfortable. Bed is very comfy, bathroom is small and is a wetroom, so a bit cramped but does the job. WiFi not the best but does the job. Staff really helpful with luggage, and there's free tea and coffee in the lobby. All in all a great basic cheap hotel to explore the city from, but go with these expectations and you'll enjoy!
No regular cleaning, bugs in the bed. Suffered bugs attack. Uncourteous staff. Matchbox room. No value for money. Not worthy of a three star rating. Will never advise anybody to stay here.Rooms: 1/5
Great value for money. Rooms are as you’d expect and the bed was super comfortable. Staff are very friendly.
