Do not stay here if you intend to sleep. The incredibly loud party noise, engines racing , drunk people shputing near the Britomart station went both nights of our stay until 3am on Fri and 5am in sat!!! So loud, didn't sleep. The room service ice cream sundae was a disappointment, nothing like the pictures. The breakfast bar is ordinary at best. Chocolate hour is unique but long line on weekends. Would never ever stay here again. So disappointed.
Very clean, great to have restaurant on top floor with the great city/harbour view. Was disappointed with room service not really available in after hours - you only have 3 choices after 9pm burger, sandwich, curry, no fries or other light nibbles. As we are the guests that usually enjoys room service every hotel stay it was a great disappointment for us. Breakfast was nice though. It was weird that the house keeping service came even before the check out time which was kinda disruptive for our morning getting prepared to leave for brekkie. To be honest I am not going to stay again. And yes as many other people already mentioned, the street noise was very loud police siren, motorbike noise and people yelling and disrupted our sleep. Food & drinks: Restaurant served tasty foods but after hour room service was way too limited and literally nothing much available only 3 menu available.
Auckland hotel: We have stayed in this hotel a few times now, very conveniently located at the bottom of Queen St. Rooms very clean, bed comfortable, with a view over the city. We enjoyed breakfast in the hotel restaurant, views across the harbour must be some of the best in Auckland. The buffet breakfast has a significant selection of dishes, both hot and cold, well worth a visit. I have not experienced the chocolate delight that occurs every afternoon, I'll save that for my next stay.
The only good thing about this hotel is the location close to everything; room and service are not 5 stars and for sure not at the same level as the other Movenpick hotels I stayed - at the checkin, fees were probably double charged in 2 different cards as they said the first card was declined but I can still see the transaction pending on my card...we will see how it goes.. and the room was not even cleaned up every day while the signal "clean up" was on we left our room at around 11am leaving the signal "clean up" on, we came back at around 2 pm and the room was not cleaned up; we stayed for an hour and then we left again and we came back at around 7 pm - they never cleaned up the room, unacceptable for a 5 stars hotel.
Modern hotel, well appointed rooms, though could have been more spacious. Fantastic location. Excellent harbor view from the breakfast area.Rooms: 4/5
The room itself was good. However I was discouraged by how my husband and I were treated when we finally figured out how to drive in as it was not clear and quite confusing and we had to drive past a couple times before parking out the front and I walked in and asked if we drove up into a walkway cafe area or not and the lady told me to stay and wait for valet yet another told us to just drive in. We made some suggestions on how it would be profitable to put signage out which was meet with a staff member who was not helping say aloud, "well it's pretty obvious" there was no need for her rudeness as we were the ones not given clear instructions and being it was out first time we have never seen or knew what/where to drive as it looks like a cafe area not a driveway. The manager made us feel as if we were making trouble but we weren't we just wanted to give some suggestions on how to improve communication for first timers but we were made to feel like we were just dumb and a nuisance to deal with. It was our 20th Anniversary and my husband was so discouraged and it almost ruined our night away. Every time we've stayed somewhere we've been given complimentary things and even a platter with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate with a small dessert for free to show their kindness.. others a small card.. but here we got nothing, not even a acknowledgement.. which is not mandatory but it is the difference between great customer service and mediocre service; so I guess this hotel has a lot of growing and learning to do in their customer services at front desk. However the staff in the restaurant were lovely and gave wonderful service and effort. I was also grateful to the young man who helped us get into our room as our door handle was not working either and when I had to go back to reception to get a new card he offered to come along with me to see if we were okay. We discovered that the door handle wasn't opening normally and that it had to be lifted up in the opposite direction pull upwards in order to gain access, a nuisance but again the manager never bothered to check in on us, offer us another room nor fix the issue. More welcoming and friendly service would have gone a long way and things like this can be overlooked but when you're treated like you're a nuisance rather than a guest then these things could potentially ruin what was suppose to be a beautiful night away; which in our line of work is rare..
We stayed in The Movenpick Hotel for a night as we had a concert at Spark Arena - the hotel location is walking distance from the arena, close to lots of shops/food in the heart of the city. The staff were all so bubbly & helpful, the hotel had lots of unique things I haven't seen at the hotel like a library, virtual fitness room & chocolate hour all free and included in the room booking. We would definitely stay again in the suite The ocean view was stunning.
We were in the Disabilityroom on 2nd floor and as it's directly above the courtyard outside Mac Donalds sleep was impossible til 4am! We crashed Sunday night!! The joys of staying in the CBD. Rooms: Disability bathroom very good, bed comfortable Restaurant excellent Service very good, handy to shopping Spark theatre Pleased we renewed our membership
Stayed here for Te Matatini & had a fantastic experience! location is great & very central, literally, 2min walk to the train station & a 5min walk to everywhere else. The staff were excellent & very nice, the food was great & the breakfast buffet was so good.Rooms: 5/5
