The best sweet and sour chicken around. Really enjoy the dishes on offer here. We love the portion sizes, the efficiency and the service. This is our regular despite not being our local. It’s worth the drive
We have ordered food from this takeaway since they opened the doors. The chicken chow mein with soft noodles was terrible tonight. The dish didn’t smell or taste fresh the noodles were dry and obviously tossed in soy sauce and the vege was not fresh at all. I doubt it was cooked in oil as the food was just warm, not oil tossed hot. My guess is that it’s changed ownership. We will not be ordering from them ever again instead we will go back to where it started..The Diamond takeaway in Epsom.
When Denizen listed this little takeaway joint amongst the best Chinese food in Auckland I decided to give it another try. But unfortunately I found it as mediocre as always. The spring roll was perfect, crispy and oily and tasty. But the vegetarian steamed dumplings had barely any filling and no flavour. The HK chicken chow main was a generous portion for the $20 price and was full of large bits of veggies, a pleasant surprise. But the whole dish was dry, the chicken overcooked and the noodles tasted old rather than fresh. Even tho Bamboo Kitchen is so close by, I won’t be going back again.
The laziest sweet and sour pork with rice for $21. Not even mixed together just the cheapest pink sweet and sour sauce dumped on top of dry deep-fried pork with small amount of rice and 2 just 2 pieces of pineapple. What a rip off. What a waste of money. Disappointing I use to come to this place before it was bamboo kitchen and the sweet n sour pork was it
Had chicken fried rice, sweet and sour pork, Thai sauce chicken and wontons. Wontons were excellent, chicken fried rice was good though a smallish portion, Thai sauce chicken was average and the sweet and sour pork was dry, overcooked and chewy and generally unpleasant. Sweet and sour sauce was gluggy and gloopy and there wasn't anywhere near enough of it for the dry pork. They price themselves at the top end of the market at about 21 a dish so pretty average showing and there are better places around Marua Rd that are cheaper.
