SINGLE OUT NEW CUSTOMERS WITH UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOURnnHaving celebrated my birthday with my husband at Lobster Palace Restaurant today, below are our observations:nn1. Even though the restaurant is advertised and posted its opening hours which is 10:30am from Mondays to Sundays, around 20 customers were having their dim sum and tea at around 10:15am.nnWhen we arrived at around 10:15am, the lady at reception only allowed those customers whom she knew and took them to the designated tables. As I just followed others whom also were not frequent customers to sit down at one of the empty tables, she shouted at me and said “You cannot sit at this table. This table has been reserved.”nnMy husband talked to her in a very friendly and nice way that we didn’t know you have two different treatments to those so-called frequent customers and new customers. He said we could wait at the queue.nnThis “single new customers out for worse treatment” does not welcome new clients honestly.nn2. Food there is good and fresh.nn3. Atmosphere is typical noisy yam cha but the Chinese woman who took away one of chairs fiercely without even having the courtesy of asking really speaks for the calibre of frequent customers dining there itself.nn4. Owner is very busy serving customers so we were not able to reflect what should be done to improve the lady receptionist’s conduct and behaviour towards new customers.nn5. A gentleman and some ladies serving tea and pushing dim sum trolleys are far more friendlier and polite than the lady receptionist’.nnADVICE: BE careful when you come to deal with the extremely rude lady receptionist. Otherwise, your day, especially birthday celebration will definitely be ruined by her rudeness and uncivilised behaviour.
Very yummy! Highly recommend the I don’t believe I’d ever truly known happiness until i had tried that. The lobster is also phenomenal of course.
A friend told my husband that they have the best yum cha in east Auckland. To be honest it’s very average, the food isn’t bad but it’s nothing amazing, nothing that is worth queueing over an hour for if you go after 11am, we went before then and the restaurant was already packed, luckily the wait for us was just under half an hour. The price is quite expensive considering we only ordered 3 small dishes+tea that came to $34. If you are a big eater you probably want to skip this place. Also it is very noisy, tables are placed in a very chaotic arrangement, I couldn’t hear what the waitress was saying at all
Authentic dim sum and easily the best yum cha in New Zealand in my opinion! Love that they’ve kept the traditional trolley service — the noise, the bustle, and staff calling out dishes are all part of the charm of a great Chinese restaurant. Feels just like the classic yum cha experience. Highly recommend!
Such a wonderful place to eat for large gatherings. Really enjoyed it here. The food was delicious. I loved the Peking Duck and of course, the lobster. Great fresh food and well presented. Will definitely come back again.
