A Hidden Gem on Dominion RoadnnWe’ve passed by Spicy House countless times and finally decided to step in – and what a delightful decision it was! This small restaurant has its unique charm: it’s compact, bustling, yet incredibly well-organized. Despite the busy atmosphere, the efficiency and attentiveness of the staff stood out. There were five staff members at the front counter, ensuring every request was promptly addressed and tables were swiftly cleaned and turned over for the next guests.nnOne of the most striking aspects of Spicy House is its diverse clientele. It’s arguably the only Chinese restaurant in Auckland where you’ll find more non-Chinese customers than Chinese, which speaks volumes about its broad appeal and the quality of its food.nnSpeaking of the food, it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the beef was particularly noteworthy – tender and perfectly cooked. Each dish we tried was a testament to the culinary skills of the kitchen staff. The prices are reasonable, offering great value for the quality and portion sizes.nnOverall, our experience at Spicy House was fantastic. The combination of excellent service, delicious food, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a standout on Dominion Road. We will definitely be back to enjoy more of their delightful offerings. Highly recommended!

Was told this was a really good place for chinese, came around 5pm, early dinner. We were the only table, made a mistake on our order and apologised but didnt offer to remove the extra item from our bill, so we had to suck it up and just pay for it and bring it home. All aside, food was so mediocre and tiny portion for the price you are paying. So many people recommended me this place but after trying it once i think this place is overrated and for people that dont know whats good food. I have never seen a that has no spring onion/onion/peanuts. It was literally just white colored fried chicken and some chili powder. To be honest one of the worst experience ive had for a while. As you can see in the picture, fried vege in oil at the back, and in front is the highly recommended that looks so pale and sad. No peanuts, no onion, barely any dry chili too.

Very good quality at a reasonable price. Everything we ordered is on point. I especially enjoyed the sparerib in secret sauce, intestine and sweet and sour pork. White rice comes free when you order. The place is small and has few tables so you have to plan ahead your visit when coming.

Cheap, Fast, Easy.nDon’t get the chilli chicken tho, even though it’s their most popular dish, there’s better things on the menu

The food came out so fast, the first dish came out 2 mins after we ordered. Their spices are so tasty, it doesn’t overpower the food, adds extra flavours to the dishes. Would be great for group gatherings, as you can order more dishes to share, we only had 2 people, 3 dishes was plenty
