顺记湘菜 Shun Kee Restaurant

This restaurant serves tasty food that both my husband and I enjoyed. Hunan food is very spicy but they happily toned it back for my husband, who can't handle too much chilli.nnThe menu is very porky but I don't like pork so we tried various other options instead. The smelly tofu entree was suitably pungent and came topped with hot chilli. It was too hot for my husband but just right for me so I hoovered it all up.nnWe also had hot and sour pickled radish, dong 'an chicken and stir fried chicken. All were lovely.nnThe owner was friendly and interested to know what we thought of the food given we were the only non Asian patrons. The only negative - and it's not a big deal - is that the owner was busy in the kitchen when we arrived and it took quite a while before she noticed us standing at the counter. But we didn't mind too much and would happily eat there again.

I recommend this place to lovers of spicy food, Hunan cooking style of Chinese cuisine. There are many types of spicy food, Thai, Mexican, curry, Sichun hotpot, etc. But Hunan is a different one, try it out youself. The best praise is not delicious, but truly localHunan, or authentic. I heard their regulars will travel far for it. I loved my choices. As it comes with rice, those who don't normally take rice may find the dishes slightly more heavy in seasoning.nFor decos, it is between a takeaway and a restaurant, I would take friends there if fine dining is what you have on your mind. But the food does not disappoint at all. Situated at the junction of New North Road and Mt Albert, close to the train station, best to park behind the shop, there is Park and Ride carpark there.

This is a must-go restaurant in Auckland.If you like spicy food,you must go.If you cannot handle the spicy food,the chef would try his best to cater your flavor.The chef is very talktive and passionate. I like this place and it's my first option to hang out with my friends if we are starving.I feel like I am back in my hometown when the first bite of the food.nThanks chef for making yummy food for us.

Really authentic Hunan cuisine! Most of the dishes are made with smoked & aged pork/beef. Great for meet ups and family gathering.nnMust try: the tofu pork, the dried turnip pork, the beef is also good, the Chai Gu Rou pork is good too.nnAlso try: the steamed pork with taro, the Xiao Chao rounot aged/smoked pork, and Double chili eggclassic dish, but expensive because it’s literally what’s in the name.nnDepending on how busy it is, it may take up to 1 hour for my food to come, rarely, but if you avoid peak times it could be as fast as 10 mins.nnPrice is standard, but the flavor is unbeatable compared to the other 3 ‘top rated’ Hunan style restaurants I tried in Auckland.

Again and again! I wish I could come everyday!! The familiar flavor, very authentic dishes! If you like spicy food, it’s the perfect choice
