Decent stay overall, but nothing outstanding. The room was comfortable. Male Staff on the reception is not interested to give rooms and to give information about overall.nnOur room was available to move even though reception hold the room stating room is not cleaned and for cleaning they needs 2 hrs time.nWhen I asked for the reason he said one day before there was party and they were busy.nwe supposed to enter room at 5pm because we travelled from Auckland but due to reception hold the room until 7:30pmnWe did check in late in the night.nDuring the time we visited redwood night light.nnLocation is convenient, but amenities were fairly basic for the price. Good for a short stopover, but not a memorable stay.nnSkyline is opposite the hotel
We booked a deluxe twin room with mountain views. The check in process was seamless. The staff treated us great the whole 11 night stay. The room was modern and very clean. Our beds were different firmness but that worked great for us as we have different preferences. The rooms are very sound proof and although the road was right outside our window we could barely hear it. This definitely isn’t some 5 star hotel, and for the affordable price you shouldn’t expect that. However I was truly blown away by our great experience here.nnI’d recommend a car if you’re staying here. It’s about 5 minute drive out of town, but I prefer it that way. We stay frequently in Rotorua and this will now be the hotel we stay with every time. Thank you to the team at Awa for making our stay so comfortable.
Strongly recommend. Very friendly and helpful stuff. Location is great. My room is very nice and clean. I love it very much. I tried safe and accidentally locked it and couldn't unlock. Reception helped. It was very impressive. Also very yummy food. I really enjoyed hot and spicy soup. The size of meal is impressive. I like it all. Five stars all around.
We had an awful experience at this hotel despite having a confirmed booking and full payment made in advance. We traveled with our family of six, expecting a smooth check-in. However, upon being given a room key and going to check it, we were shocked to find other guests already inside, getting dressed. This was a serious violation of guest privacy and extremely concerning.nnWhen we returned to the reception, the lady simply said, “Sorry, the rooms got mixed up because there were too many children.” This response was completely unacceptable and showed a total lack of professionalism and accountability.nnWe were then offered another room to “check if it’s okay.” After traveling from Auckland, we were already tired and frustrated. The second room was dirty and not properly prepared — it had two double beds and one single bed, despite our booking clearly being for six people. When we asked where the sixth person was supposed to sleep, the staff had no answer.nnAt this point, we were completely exhausted and asked to cancel our booking. After a long and stressful call with Agoda, the hotel owner and staff refused to issue a refund, even though the room was not as described and the situation was entirely the hotel’s fault.nnTo make matters worse, after all this, the staff told us the hotel was overbooked and that there were no rooms available — despite having just offered us one moments earlier.nnThis was the worst experience we have ever had with a hotel. There was no customer care, no responsibility taken, and absolutely no regard for guest comfort or privacy. We ended up driving all the way back to Auckland — a completely ruined trip.
Not too bad overall, the room was mostly clean and comfortable. The only issue was the stains on the bedsheets. We asked the receptionist to have them replaced, which they did, but unfortunately the new ones were also stained. Might be the right time to throw them out and buy new ones...
