Awa Hotel

Hotel is very handy for sights in and around Rotorua, the Gondola is practically across the road! The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The room itself is spacious and nice and clean. The only gripe I have is the TV, after a busy day seeing the sites sometimes it's nice to relax watching your favourite show on Netflix, no chance!! It baffles me how a hotel in 2026 does not have a smart TV. Be warned, NZ TV is God awful.

**READ ALL REVIEWS BEFORE GOING**nnVery disappointed with our stay. I genuinely don't understand how this is rated as a 4-star hotel. Out of all the hotels we've stayed at, the staff here were by far the worst. They were rude, unwelcoming, and showed little interest in helping guests. A simple smile or friendly greeting seemed too much to ask, and we were often made to feel like an inconvenience rather than valued customers.nnThe room itself was not clean, with noticeable stains on both the sheets and pillows. The toilet was leaking throughout our stay, and the towel hangers were broken, showing a clear lack of maintenance. We booked for a family of five, yet only three towels were provided.nnRoom service was also extremely disappointing. Our beds were not made, dirty towels were left in the room, and basic housekeeping standards were not met. For a hotel that advertises itself as 4-star, the cleanliness, maintenance, and customer service were well below expectations.nnOverall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience from start to finish. I would not recommend this hotel and would not stay here again.

The room is spacious and cleaned with AC. The price was affordable including the buffet breakfast which has variety of choices and mostly Chinese food. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. One thing I loved about the hotel is it has an available massage chair at the ground floor which you can at the counter and use to relax after a long day. Location wise if your goal is to spend sometime in Skyline Rotorua. The hotel is just located at the opposite side of the road.

Please don't book this hotel. You'll regret it. Rude staff, leaking toilets, stained bedding, and poor housekeeping. Read the reviews carefully before booking and don't be fooled by the 5-star ratings. Many of them seem fake, with accounts that only have one review. It honestly feels like people are being paid to leave positive reviews. The genuine reviews tell the real story.

Great spot! Check in was easy, would be nice if they had the standard check in of 2pm rather than 3pm.nnRoom was super spacious and clean, soft beds with extra pillows if needed. Shower was hot and not the worst pressure.nnOnly issue was car parking, but it was Easter weekend.
