Wharf Rd Restaurant & Bar

About

Wharf Rd. is an expression of what living in or travelling to the south coast of New South Wales is all about – a relaxed atmosphere and a cracking view to be shared with friends and family, with simple, delicious food and great wine.

Story

The dishes we create are our representation of fresh, modern cuisine, with an edge of smokey flavour thanks to our custom-built South American-style barbeque. Wharf Rd has its own rock salt drying room so we can dry-age and cure our own locally-sourced meat which enhances the dining experience and the quality of the produce.

Fancy, tasty, professional food without the snobby attitude of similar high end Sydney restaurants. The Ceviche served in the Himalayan sea salt block is one of my favorites, as is their selection of oysters. Also some of the nicest staff who are clearly happy working here. If you're in the area I think definitely stop here.

Lovely dining experience. Beautiful location ... certainly more than a notch above 90% of other local businesses. Decent selection of beer and wine, decent staff experience too (tough to manage in such a location.) Looking forward to seeing the future growth and menu changes. More like this please!

To say the food was edible would be a stretch of the imagination. The one vegetarian option that was on the menu was not only incorrectly described- hope you aren’t lactose intolerant as there was an inescapable amount of cheese- but it was drowned in an unbelievable amount of butter. The “crispy broccoli” was a straight up massacre. It was burnt, dead and had been deep fried in week-old oil. All the proteins (pork, spatchcock and brisket) were somehow all dry and over cooked. There was a complete lack of seasoning across the board. To say that the meal was overpriced is an understatement. $10 for some sourdough, $18 for some pretty average olives (we were given two lots rather than the one we asked for). There was no love, no respect, and it left an awful taste in the mouth. Won’t be returning.

Meal was great. Lovely position by the river. Wanted to stay for desert and to watch the fruit bats flying over, but the noise made by a large party of celebrating females made that impossible. However this was no the restaurants fault. Would recommend thr plsct and menu.
