Such a delightful place almost in the heart of Bowral. Food was magnificent and the service was delightful. A perfect place for a celebration or an intimate dinner. The chefs menu was divine and it was very handy to have neat and comfortable accommodation on site. Would recommend to anyone that asks.

What an amazing place! Just over an hour out of Sydney you find relaxation, fantastic service & incredible food. For someone (like me) that seriously needed a break from the city & life, Biota is an oasis. Thank you all very much.

I dined at Biota for the first time on 1 April 2018. Unfortunately the whole experience didn’t meet my expectations. The food was exceptional, the wine delicious. Where it all fell apart was the service. Lack of attention to detail when drink order being made, matching wines not arriving at the same time as the food, with little to no description of the wine and or the food pairing (all the small things one is willing to pay extra for at an establishment like biota) My partner who had been a year earlier suggested that it was nothing like her first experience which was amazing. Maybe it was just an off night for the team or new staff... I don’t know but I was really looking forward to being blown away. Unfortunately disappointed.

The only thing hatted about this restaurant is it’s setting. The service was below par and not to a standard of a hatted restaurant . After ordering our drinks our waitress returned ten minutes later asking us what we had ordered as she had been “ extremely distracted”. We selected the 5 course degustation of which perhaps 2 of the tasting plates were passable! The hen egg with bug meat should translate to scrambled eggs with traces of bug meat. This was disappointing to say the least and paying handsomely for that privilege left us far from either wanting to return or referring it favourably to our family and friends. Overpriced, poor service and a poor menu , extremely disappointing and not worth it! This has the potential for a great restaurant if a few things were changed .

Fine dining, very creative, special experience. Nice touch with chefs presenting each course. We choose wine matching and they matched very well with courses. A bit difficult to choose on your own as you don't quite know what the courses are before you get them. Good range of local and other wines.
