OG. I've been to this restaurant countless times and while some have said that it's not as good any more I call that rubbish because they are consistent as ever and that's something you could probably bank money on given their never ending relentless on being efficient. As a kid, sure, not going to be as good as mum's, but mum was had no issues eating here. For a time I lived in Bankstown and whenever I was feeling slightly run down I would turn up for take away and the staff would have my order ready before I received my change, not because things aren't fresh but because they are efficient and pho is 99% prep and takeaway avoids the assembly so being efficient just means you portioned everything exactly. Years later, I'm still feeling like the rich soup in the bowl is still soothing for the soul and I appreciate it even more without the hoisin and srirarcha, having made this myself I have a better appreciation for the effort in this bowl. The noodles are fresh, the herbs include Thai basil which many other places now skimp on by using mint instead, and the chilli on the table is fresh and not dried out from being prepared too early. They still turn over tables reasonably quickly, though with much more competition around Sydney there's no queues on the average week night and has been very accessible for many years. Don't forget cash, I did today and put an order anyway while letting them know I was going to duck around to the atm quickly. At the end, wave them down to pay at the table. You can customise a little as well if your have the patience to speak with them but bear in mind English is not the native tongue of most workers there. I recommend beginners to get the special which comes with the tripe and tendon, rare beef and cooked brisket and see which bits you like - I like variety so I still get the special. You can get a side of bo vien the beef balls with a side of satay oil which is a good but advanced customisation. The formula hasn't changed over decades and it doesn't need to when it still manages to stay busy without needing to resort to new age influencers, the customers are loyal with generations of families coming here since the 80s.
Been coming here for over 30 years on a very regular basis. But this place has changed since the owner passed away a few years ago. Upon my first bite of the noodles it was very bland. It wasn’t very enjoyable. Soup was still good. I’ve reviewed so many Pho restaurants world wide and this was definitely in my top 3. But not anymore.
This is the best pho I've ever had. I always request extra chili oil, which enhances the flavor perfectly. While there is often a long queue during lunch and dinner hours, the service is efficient, so the wait is not long. The young coconut drink is also good. Please note that they only accept cash.
AN Restaurant offers a modern take on traditional Vietnamese cuisine, with Phở being one of its standout dishes. The Phở here is crafted with care, featuring a deeply aromatic broth that perfectly balances rich and savory flavors. The beef or chicken, depending on your choice, is tender and cooked to perfection, while the fresh herbs and rice noodles bring a burst of authentic Vietnamese taste. It’s a comforting and satisfying meal that feels both traditional and refined.nnThe restaurant itself has a contemporary ambiance, making it a great spot for both casual dining and special occasions. Beyond Phở, AN Restaurant also offers a wide range of Vietnamese and international dishes, ensuring there’s something for every palate. The service is attentive, and the staff are knowledgeable about the menu, making helpful recommendations when needed.nnIf you’re a fan of Phở or just looking to experience high-quality Vietnamese food with a modern twist, AN Restaurant is a great choice. The combination of flavorful dishes, a welcoming atmosphere, and excellent service makes it a go-to destination for anyone craving a delicious Vietnamese meal in a sophisticated setting.
It’s been a few years since I visited An. An institution in Bankstown for their Pho .nNothing has changed. Their food is consistent and fast. Lightning fast.nTook less than a minute for our combination beef Pho to hit the table..nthe food is good, not amazing just as I remembered but there is a lot more competition for Vietnamese food recently.nService is ok. Fast but lack of care.nBut you know what you get and we will be back in a whilenGreat place to fast cheap eats and with groups/family.nOh, plenty of herbs and bean shoots are offered for every table, with a wedge of lime.
