I was amazed by how quickly the food arrived! I was so thrilled to see Tendon Pho on the menu—what a treat! Now I totally get why everyone says this is the best pho in town. It was 100% worth the drive! I’ll definitely be back soon.nThe only tiny downside is the parking, but if the lot were a bit bigger, it would be perfect!
I’m giving AN Restaurant three stars based on a mixed but honest dining experience. It’s a well-known Vietnamese restaurant in Bankstown and clearly popular with locals, which is why I feel it’s important to share some practical information for future customers.nnFirst and most importantly, this restaurant is cash only. There is no card or electronic payment available, which may be inconvenient for many customers who are used to cashless payments in Australia. Clearer signage or advance notice would greatly improve the customer experience.nnAs for the food, it is decent and consistent, though not particularly memorable. The flavours are fine, and the portions are reasonable. It’s suitable for a casual meal, but if you’re arriving with very high expectations, you may find it fairly average.nnThe three-star rating is not meant to discourage, but rather to reflect room for improvement — especially in terms of transparency, convenience, and alignment with modern Australian dining standards. In a society that values fairness and clarity, these details matter.nnThis review is shared with goodwill, and I genuinely hope the restaurant continues to improve so customers can dine with confidence and peace of mind.
AN Restaurant, Bankstown is a masterclass in doing one thing well. This place serves pho — beef or chicken — and nothing else, and that focus shows the moment you walk in. No distractions, no menu overload, just a clear commitment to the bowl.nnThe restaurant itself is huge, easily larger than some suburban churches, and designed for efficiency. The menu is displayed boldly on the wall in three languages, so you know exactly what you’re ordering before you even sit down. There’s a dedicated entry door and a separate exit, keeping traffic flowing smoothly and giving the space an organised, almost ceremonial feel. Strong feng shui, strong intent.nnWe ordered the rare beef pho, the beef special, and added beef balls on the side. Almost instantly after sitting down, a generous plate of bean sprouts and Thai basil lands on the table without needing to ask — it’s part of the rhythm here.nnThe broth leans confidently into star anise, producing a fragrant, aromatic soup that’s clearly tuned to Sydney taste buds. It’s bold but balanced, warming without being overpowering. There is MSG, but it’s restrained — enough to deepen the flavour without stealing the show. The noodles are fresh and properly al dente, holding their bite from first slurp to last.nnUsually with Asian restaurants, you’re not there for the service — you’re there for the food. But here, the service deserves mention. Staff are fast, efficient, and genuinely welcoming, moving with purpose while still making you feel looked after. Bowls arrive quickly, tables turn smoothly, and everything runs like a well-rehearsed operation.nnAN Restaurant doesn’t chase trends or try to reinvent pho. It focuses on consistency, scale, and flavour, and delivers a deeply satisfying bowl every time. If you want pho done with confidence and clarity, this is a Bankstown staple worth lining up for.
Came here 5 years ago and the flavour is still the same. Great bowl of Pho. Service was very quick, you received your pho within 1 mins of ordering.nThe chicken pho is one of the best I’ve ever had. Remember to bring CASH as they don’t do eftpos.
Feels a bit like being in Vietnam itself I guess. A “cash only” restaurant and therefore very questionable tax paying status You don’t come here if you’re expecting Western level of restaurant service. The staff working here are more akin to being back home in Vietnam. So please lower your Western expectations. Food is nice and similar to many pho restaurants in Cabramatta and Canley Vale. However those places don’t charge $20 per bowl. Portions also comparatively smaller than normal. Happy to come again if I’m nearby. But plenty of other pho options available around this area
