Celebrated my 60th birthday at Platform One recently, and was very impressed with the presentation, food, service and staff. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone.

Made dinner reservations for 6 on 10/2/18. Being excited to have dinner at the renovated Bankstown sports club, this feeling disappeared as soon as we had a our drinks ordered arrive. Firstly, the platinum blonde lady who was probably duty manager brought our pepsi’s On a tray that was dripping water all over my fiancé’s clothes as she held it above him to place the glasses on the table - Noticed and didn’t apologise. Then our waitress over filled my mother’s glass of water completely wetting the table reaching my mothers iPhone - noticed and no apology -.-! She also had a thing with putting plates over our heads instead of between us as we left space for her. Dinner arrived after 45 mins which was fine. I ordered lobster and it was just not that nice. The venue itself looks ok’ but it reminds me of those sad looking restaurants on Chef Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares show. Hygiene - poor. Manners - poor. Menu - very average joe. Bit of everything but not much at the same time. Literally heard the waiters/waitresses gossiping about other customers -interesting but not professional when they hid behind the podium our table as next to for us to hear. Such a cringe place to be. Never again. Ohh but of course when it came to payment time - they were “so nice” ugh

The food is decent and they have a good range of burgers, grill and pizza/ pasta options. The orders are taken and delivered quickly, so there is never much of a wait. If you can, try and get a table in one of the old train cars. It's a cool experience to have your dinner in the dining car. I had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. However, you can get the eaxct same meal from the rainforest cafe, near the fake stone cave, for $23 instead of $29 at the restaurant. I like the self serve condiments section too. I'm a big fan of sauce and you can get as much as you like from the pump station.

Staff were friendly and the restaurant's lovely Victorian design is quite the experience. However, service was slow, we waited 40 minutes for our steak which was sinewy. Desserts on the otherhand were consistently delicious and we had the doughnuts, Brandy snaps and trifle. Overall, an average and slightly disappointing experience given the price.

Decent food, service and environment. Trying to eat burgers here is like playing a game of Jenga where you always lose, each is stacked 6ft high and you can't actually hold one without it falling apart.
