Welcome to University House, the ceremonial heart of Australia’s National University, and a boutique hotel with a university vibe. Set in the ANU’s tranquil grounds next to the city’s stylish New Acton precinct, University House is truly one of Canberra’s unique locations and experiences.

From its beginnings solely as a residential college for professors and graduate students, University House has grown to host a vibrant hotel, with fine and casual dining, functions and events spaces, and an excellent bar and cellar. It is the place where the University meets and celebrates, and where guests and visitors experience the benefits of a boutique hotel with immediate access to the rich cultural and intellectual life of Australia’s National University.

Room was a very simple two bedroom affair with a small bathroom and balcony. It had fairly old furnishings, but had a TV and fridge to it's credit. The main highlight of our stay was the serene and incredibly quiet garden outside as well as the proximity to the university. Though we did not attend them, the hotel had a bar and restaurant available. All in all a very pleasant stay.

For a family it's a great place to stay. The apartment was generously sized, had all the amenities we needed and was well located. The rooms are fitted out with cool retro furniture. I'd definitely stay here again

Loved the location, close to the city center, peaceful and quiet. The rooms were spacious, and air-conditioned with a balcony. Definitely recommend it.

University house is probably the quietest hotel in central Canberra. The grounds are beautiful and it's right in the middle of ANU campus. The rooms are quite nice, reasonably sized, and most have a desk to work at. I highly recommend University House.

University house was a great stay. It is not flash or over priced, but rather a reasonably priced apartment room. The location is perfect for people needing access to the ANU or for nice bike rides along the lake. It really suits most groups of people, maybe not young children though. For 2 people and out most of the day, it was perfect.
