Great location. Service is very average. Bring your own moisturizing cream, dental kit and other basic necessities as they don't make them readily available. You can ask but not guaranteed you will get them. Had to go to the shops nearby to get toothpaste. Very annoying and inconvenient as a travelling passenger by plane you are not allowed to have these in your carry-on luggage. Internet on the Ground Floor rooms is really bad. Similar to dial up speeds. Something for this Hotel to look at. Just 2 stars.
This is ideal for me when visiting Canberra, at least if I can find a discount rate. The location is ideal for Civic and for ANU, and it is a reasonable and quite pretty, albeit longish walk to the main national sites. The rooms and staff are lovely. The breakfast looks a little pricey to me but seems good value for people who like a somewhat fancy breakfast.
The Avenue is a great place to stay, especially their spa suite. Which is a large suite and the spa fits 2 people. Perfect for a romantic getaway or to celebrate an anniversary. My review would have been 4 stars if not for their signature bed..it's soft, really soft, and not necessarily suitable for all people. It would be better if they had other beds that were firm. Additionally, some of their spas require fixing so that all the functions on them work, especially the lighting, which is amazing when in the spa.
Another great hotel! Started with professional, friendly and just lovely reception hosts - Sonam and Gabriel. Clean and spacious accommodation, with fantastic decor, including bathroom and kitchen. Perfect location - restaurants, bars, shopping and markets on the weekend. Parking under the building. Reasonable rate. Made our stop-over in Canberra very worthwhile and now we want to visit again!
I strongly recommend this hotel! I got one of the ordinary King rooms rather than one of the apartment ones. Just about everything was perfect:nnLocation: right by the CBD 'Civic' without being noisy and also about 15 minutes walk to ANU.nnRooms: very spacious and well-appointed--even a separate sink and tap for the mini-kitchen area. Big shower head as well as an adjustable hose-like one.nnState of hotel: rooms and general lobby area are clean and modern.nnThe only small negatives were:nn- The mini-bar fridge situation: the way the fridge is set up, it can be hard to fit your own things in there because it has special weights/places for the mini-bar itemsn- The room-cleaning service: be sure that you're clear on how their system works; they have a sign you hang on the door as well as a 'service/no-service' light and the former can cancel out the latter in ways that can get a little confusing.
