The customer service people were nice,, even late at night, and the car was mostly functional. But do NOT leave the parking lot if ANYTHING seems the slightest bit off. The low pressure warning came on as we were just reaching the final gate - the right rear tire was complaining that it was 5 lbs lower that the others. We figured it was easy enough to stop at a gas station and pump it up, so we did. The error code cleared, and we made the two hour drive to our destination free of incident. The next morning, pulling out of the parking lot where we were staying, the pressure gauge gave us the same complaint. Right rear tired was 5 lbs low. We didn’t have time to call roadside and wait for a truck, so we hit another gas station and went about our day - a planned 7 hours of driving. Around lunch time, we have an hour to wait on hold, so we call customer service. They tell us that, as the car is obviously capable of being driven, it doesn’t qualify for roadside assistance, we would need to bring it in to be exchanged… but we’re not allowed to exchange it at the nearest Thrifty rental place… or even the next nearest. They want us to drive 5 hours out of our way to return it to the place we got it, and pick up a new one. The nice young man on the phone was sorry, but he literally didn’t have any other options he could offer us. We could continue to drive it, or we could bring it back. I don’t blame him. He is not a decision maker, and he doesn’t write the policy for the company. He didn’t make excuses, but I know what its like. So I asked to be bumped up to his manager. He put us on hold three different times, truing to get us transferred to someone who would actually take the call. No one ever picked up. We finally asked him to put us through to the voice mail of one of the managers. I left what I thought was a politely worded complaint and a request for contact. I got nothing. We ended up buying a pump from auto zone and pumping the tire up every morning. It was annoying, but much easier than finding 5 hours in our very busy schedule to get a new car. When we returned the car, I again asked to speak to a manager, and was told someone would call me. It has been three weeks, and I have still heard nothing. From now on, if I have a choice, my choice will NOT be Thrifty.
Used Expedia and Thrifty was car rental. Paid 2months in advance, for to airport and customer service was terrible. Required a $500.00 deposit & a credit check for a less than 48hr rental that had already been paid. When trying to get answers they refused us service. We had to fo and pay for another rental. They were awful. Amber the supervisor was a real jerk, told manager DNR when he walked up and manager refused to help us. IL O'Hara airport
Worst customer service! Nobody at the desk when I arrived, staff was so rude and clearly didn't want to be there. Some features of the car were not in working order. I left my camera in the back seat upon return, called and had someone go to the airport immediately and the car was gone already...during Corona...obviously not cleaned properly. I filed a lost and found claim and they told my friend at the airport they would call the new renter and put a hold on the car upon return. Not only did they do none of that, but they DELETED my lost & found file. Told me to resubmit, but then when you try that....says it's a duplicate and won't accept. Try the phones....what a JOKE! I work in hospitality and hoped for some in return for once, my expectations were obviously not aligned with what they find to be acceptable.
DONT RENT FROM THRIFTY. If I could give no stars I would. They charged my card for an extra day when I returned the car on time as my contract stated. Three weeks ago I called about the charge and was told it would take 7 to 10 business days to complete. When I called to get some results I was told they are still working on the case and was transferred to a department who didn't even handle this type of situation. NEVER AGAIN
Would give 0 stars if it were an option. I definitely do NOT recommend renting from them. I booked our car over three weeks ago, and added a child car seat with the car so that i wouldn't have to carry a baby, car seat, and suitcase by myself. I had everything confirmed and set up, just needed to get the keys. I get their to pick up the keys today and they inform me that they just started inforcing a new policy on debit cards that you have to have a credit check, but I was never informed of this and I stated I was using a debit card when I booked the car. So, I get there and I am stranded with a one year old and they told me they can't do anything to help me. At this point I am crying because I am in a different state alone with an infant and no car seat. The woman behind me felt bad and offered to help hold my crying babe and to pay with her credit card and I could withdraw cash from an ATM, despite my persistence that I would figure something out. The company told her that they had to close my reservation because the failed credit check wouldn't allow them to use another method of payment and couldn't give me another vehicle for the same rate of $13 a day and so the price would go up $200. Thank God for National and Alamo because the manager helped me rent a car and got the rates reduced to the amount I was originally paying at thrifty and for a nicer SUV instead of a small car. So needless to say that I won't ever give Thrifty and Dollar my business again and I will call corporate on Tuesday and tell them they need to inform customers of "new policy changes" after they've already booked and confirmed
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES RENT FROM HERE!!! My husband a short 2-day trip and rented from here. They first off told us to pick any car we wanted, then as we were leaving he told us we had to switch cars to a 7seater pathfinder. First off told us it would be no extra charge for upgrading since THEY had no other cars left over. This was the first of many, MANY lies. We asked as we were leaving what to do with the keys as our flight left before they opened at 7:00. The gentleman simply said to park downstairs and put the keys in the grey box. Easy enough. On September 12th we did exactly that. We checked our credit card to see if the mandatory $200 hold had been put back on our card, and not only had it NOT been, but we had been charged an extra $849.00 with them saying we had not returned the car and driven 500 miles. In reality we’re already back in CANADA FOR A WHOLE WEEK. The customer service has not helped AT ALL. They just keep saying they’re “investigating”. I can not be more clear when I say DO NOT. Give these people your business. This has easily been the worst business experience I have ever had.
Had the absolute worst experience here. Was forced to go back to the end of the line multiple times. The second time I was actually attempted to be fooled into not thinking that I was in a line by not actually standing in the line just waiting for it. This is been one of the most demeaning experiences that I have ever encountered especially when it's not like I'm in a situation where I don't have funds to take care of the situation which a lot of the times could be the case but I actually have the funds to take care of this now. They are attempting to make this the most convoluted experience ever to ensure job security for the less than Stellar employees that are hired by the rental car places it is the standard of Excellence is ruined my vacation and I says you're for the last 2 hours attempting to get something taken care of. By the way Capital One solve my issue within 10 minutes. overall this may come off as an angry review but it is not from a place of anger it is from place of sadness. It is incredibly unbelievable
The customer service is very poor, I could not even get a customer service agent on the phone. First of all dollar rental is the same as hertz. So when I went to the airport to pick up the car I was given the run around. Secondly they tried to charge me another 500 dollars on top of the 300 dollars they already took out of my account, when I asked for a refund they refused. I NEVER PICKED UP THE CAR AND WAS STILL CHARGED !!DO NOT USE DOLLAR RENTAL OR HERTZ BECAUSE THEY ARE THE SAME COMPANY. THEY ARE A SCUMBAG COMPANY AND HAVE NO INTEGRITY!! DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!! DOLLAR RENTAL AND HERTZ SHOULD NOT EVEN BE IN BUSINESS AT ALL!! I WOULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS IF IT WAS AN OPTION!!!!
Van broke down 2 days into vacation. After being on hold 90+ minutes for their road-side assistance, Thrifty wanted me to go to a local auto parts store for a battery. When I refused they towed it but still charged me full rental price of 5 days + $108 refueling charge.
The price is a big reason for the high rating but the $200 additional hold on my credit card and the fact that they claimed it would only be held on a debit card are the reasons these guys lost two stars. A shame really because the clerk was very polite and helpful. Rental was still cheap at the end of the day and I didn't have any other complaints
