Helpful and professional staff. Hired a car for 5 days at a great price following a "Pay 4 Get 5" sort of promotion. I was provided with a quick overview of the car basics after a joint inspection before driving off. Car was in great condition, clean and reliable, didn't have any issue. Upon return, staff inspected the car with me, and had me sign a return form saying it was all fine, first time I see that in Australia. They are a water wise facility when it comes to washing cars, bonus points. Only downside is that vehicle aren't fitted with e-tag for toll roads. They have it covered with some sort of extra plan, but I just avoided toll roads.

Wish I had read these reviews before hiring! Customer service here is just terrible. I've had to make about 4 calls to try and resolve the bond that one of their staff took out on two separate transactions, because she was distracted whilst having a chat to a co worker. So I'm still missing $35 from my bond, but I'd rather leave it than make yet another call, and have to deal with another person from here. Thank you Erin, who was the only regular human I've talked to during this stupidly annoying transaction. Would I recommend this branch or company to anyone? I would actively tell people never to use them. Thrifty - never had any problems with them.

After recent encounters with the hertz south Yarra branch, i am highly unlikely to recommend them as i have been doing for quite some time now. After spending the entire day on the phone to numerous people from hertz my issues was still not solved. I have been hiring a car from hertz since around April or may. Spent the first 4 weeks paying full amount as any one else would, and slowly slowly the amount was dropped weekly to a reasonable $320 weekly. The arrangement that i have with this branch is that i would like to continue hiring the vehicle monthly, until potentially the end of the year or early next year but rather than pay 1 month up front each month, i would pay each Tuesday $320 to get me through, week by week, as this is what my financial situation allows. on Tuesday i had called the branch and spoken with Jamee as per normal to notify him that the next 320 was available to be taken out, i had also confirmed with him that payment was up to date & no moneys were outstanding. He had confirmed this and agreed that the total amount from this Tuesday to next would be $320 as normal. The next day i had received a message demanding the car back because it was a week overdue. Miscommunication? Possibly. human error? possibly. Regardless, i was under the assumption that no money was owing, BUT, was still happy to fix up the arrears which would make total payment due $640.00 (two weeks total) The Head office manager had apparently not excepted this reasonable offer (which is exactly what i had been doing all year) And instead, STILL demanded the car back OR i pay one month up front in full. for an error which had accrued on there part. Not mine. So instead of being compensated like any professional, good company would do to keep a loyal PAYING customer who has spent THOUSANDS of dollars. i have been put in a financially inconvenient position so that i am able to retain rental of this car. NO apology. No contact from head office No reprimand for the staff member who had cause this issue, No reprimand for the staff member who bluntly insinuated that i am a liar. Yet after speaking to the reservations team for hertz (who were upset as i was) Consumer affairs, & the Victorian ombudsmen (who completly understood were i was coming from and couldnt understand why this hadn't been resolved) The team at hertz south yarra & Clayton head office, still insisted on treating me like a criminal, insinuating that the authorities would be contacted if the car wasn't returned (even tho i had payed!) And even After i had explained that i had spent THOUSANDS of dollars with them this year alone, and was happy to contiune doing so, they STILL would not agree to keeping payment as it was, and DEMANDED in a very RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL & QUITE DISGUSTING manner that i return the car, or pay 1 month advance, EVEN THOUGH the contract that i had signed is a weekly contract! To Leanne & the management team of Clayton, I am repulsed that i have not heard from you personally as i was told i would & that you are in fact in charge of these teams and as a boss/manager are supposed to lead by example. If this is the example that you lead by, putting ego first before the customer, business, or making money. I feel sorry for any future customers who will cross paths with this far below level of standards. I will continue to hire the car as its a necessity for my 2 & 1/2 year old boy, and 30 week pregnant wife. as well as my business. HOWEVER, i will not recommend any one of my 6 thousand plus clients of my business but instead encourage them to go else where for better service. Thousands of dollars spent, Thousands TO BE spent, and your ego has potentially lost you many, many customers for both corporate and personal use.
