This is my 84 year old mother at Peel health Campus. She had to lay down in the play area in the ED to get some pain relief after 5hrs of waiting in pain. The staff do thier best but the facility is lacking. Bloody disgusting way to treat our seniors.
Just needs better funding...so they can fire the dregs that accumulate here and hire competent, professional staff who conduct themselves like adults. I've heard it said that bad people don't last in nursing, and through many years and surgeries across all the major hospitals in WA I really believed that. Then I spent a week here and quickly discovered they DO last and they all end up together in places like this one. Absolutely rotten to the core, would give 0 if I could.
I normally don’t like to complain but something needs to change being a first-time mum. I had my daughter at peel health campus by c-section done by dr Peter kell and nurse Kelly they were absolutely wonderful can not fault them at all. I had no idea what I was doing i was overwhelmed and it was the night time staff that I found was horrible and didn’t like to help. no one emptied my catheter and it became blocked but I didn’t know because I had a spinal block no feeling from mid chest down once it had worn off I was in a lot of discomfort took forever for nurses to come and unblock it. then I was left to empty my own catheter for the rest of my stay. I was also left medication on my table and told to take at a certain times. As they were to busy to come back and give it to me at the times I needed it. i was struggling to feed my baby as I had a early delivery and I had no milk supply and she was a hungry girl I had to formula feed her as well they just dumped the stuff on table no explanation on how to do it. I was forced to pick it up really fast. I was so overwhelmed and upset I already felt like a failure as a mum. I was supposed to stay in hospital 5 nights but It was to stressful having no help. I discharged myself after 2 nights. I had night shift nurses that wouldn’t help me with my baby I have to lift her up and try walking over to her after having major abdominal surgery and no feeling waist down I had to wait for my partner to be allowed back the next morning to ask for his help wasn’t a good start to a new experience but once I got home things went so much better and got the hang of everything really quickly they where supposed to show us how to a few things but never showed us
My wife went for a surgery and stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. The nurses were saints and very compassionate. We love the experience pre op and during op. The reason for 3 stars is due to bad experience on dischargement. We live a bit far from the hospital and I asked multiple times to be given ample time for heads up. This morning my wife was rushed to leave and pack her belongings to wait in the discharge lounge. We were rushed to pick her up to find out that the doctor did not give the permission to discharge her. Apparently we found out that there is comms breakdown between the nurse and the doctor. The nurses were told by the management to prep the room for busy wards. I am hoping this experience wont happen to other patients in the future.
Had to be admitted for acute appendicitis, which I've had recurring for years now but every other hospital would just give me pills and send me home with no tests done to verify, only tell me it was "probably just gastro". The doctors at Peel actually listened to me when I told them my history and investigated the issue. It was indeed appendicitis, and they were kind enough to actually take it out instead of send me home with pills. The nurses here were lovely and lively considering what they have to deal with on the regular, and my surgical team were very friendly and went out of their way to make me comfortable for my first time going under general anaesthetic. Special thanks to my surgeon Toby and his team, Vanessa and Lisa. You guys were a riot. They thought I wouldn't remember their names. Jokes on you guys, I did
Im in hospital now after hip replacement. The staff on Barker Ward are the best. Also the theatre staff were very care and helpful ,never felt so safe. Peel Health Campus have no complaints so far
My husband was sent to ED by his GP due to problems after knee surgery. When we explained to Triage that our GP had sent us her reply was doesn't she know there's a hospital crisis!! But agreed to see him! Nobody listened he was sent to xray to see if it was broken and had to explain again he'd had surgery already. His BP was high when I queried this I was told that's not the problem he came in with! So not checked again. Never again, will go to Rockingham if needed.
I was brought to the Peel Health campus by ambulance following a fainting episode on Tuesday. I was seen and attended to without much waiting, and looked after by dedicated nurses and the doctor, Michelle ? who even spent time with me after her finishing time of 11pm. She was very committed to her patients. Due to the time of my arriving in the short stay area, my restricted diet, and the busyness at the time, I did not get anything to eat until 10.30pm. Also, I felt I was .not adequately advised on leaving, of the further care needed, though I was given a referral form. But, as a visitor from N.Z. I am very grateful for your care. Thankyou Patricia LeBlanc
The nurses ask for your pain level, then completely disregard it, and make an assessment about your pain level anyway. Doctors and nurses from second and third world nations with deplorable English and with Degrees not worth the paper they are written on because they are paid for overseas. The tragic state of Australia's Medical system. Every quantifiable metric of care is going backwards in this country. Tragic!!
I almost died of sepsis on the floor of the peel health campus a couple of years ago, it was because they put me as a low priority patient, a kid with a scratch on him got in before me, I was fitting on the floor throwing up and no one came to assist me after hours until I politely asked if I could pls being seen, which to that the reply was, wait you haven't being seeing yet, I was rushed to major surgery and almost jdied on the table, still suffer to this day, but the reason I'm writing this is because last night I had a panic attack was throwing up blood massive cold sweats and couldn't breath, was absolutely freaking out, I went to the peel again and they took of me to sit down after telling them my symptoms, 1,5 hours had past and I hadn't even being offered anything to help relieve my anxiety or at least a asthma puffer, this hospital and its staff are horrible people who do now care about human, they are almost satanic. They literally treat patients as burdens.
