Rockingham General Hospital

Story

Rockingham General Hospital is a public hospital in Rockingham, Western Australia, in the south west of the Perth Metropolitan Region. The 18ha hospital was originally known as Rockingham Kwinana District Hospital, but was renamed in 2008 during a major redevelopment. The 229-bed hospital has an emergency department, operating theatres, and medical, surgical and paediatric wards. There are also aged care rehabilitation, intensive care, chemotherapy, and obstetrics units.HistoryA 64-bed hospital was proposed for the Kwinana and Rockingham areas in 1954, following population growth due to the development of the Kwinana Refinery.A major redevelopment to upgrade the district hospital to a larger general hospital began in June 2007. The first phase was the construction of a new building, completed in October 2008; the second phase involved renovating the existing building. A significant portion of the second phase was completed by September 2009, and the project was completed in September 2010 with the opening of new chemotherapy and maternity units.

Change of review purely for the treatment we received from all the doctors and nurses working between 630pm and 1030pm 19/09/22. I can’t thank you guys enough, I took my daughter in for breathing problems again and without hesitation this time we were taken straight through and monitored where she then received further treatment straight away. Thank you thank you thank you. Yous we’re all amazing
I absolutely cannot fault the medical treatment I received at Rockingham Hospital after presenting at emergency with a condition that I could have died from if staff hadn't been so competent and quick to diagnose what was wrong and start treatment. Staff on the wards have been amazing, friendly, efficient and always helpful. Thank you so much, I'm very grateful for your help.
My 7 year old daughter was admitted on New years day for an unexplainable body rash, fever and a swollen leg she could not walk on no bite to indicate the symptoms. No only were we taken through almost immediately they were right on to it taking bloods and doing tests as well as X-rays to figure out what the cause was they also check on her every few minutes as well as checked on us. She was then admitted to the paediatric ward and the nurses there went above and beyond to not only accommodate her but us as well. We can not thank them enough for acting so quickly and even after she was transferred to a different hospital they still went above and beyond up until they physically put her in the car ambulance issue . I cannot thank the doctors and nurses enough, it's day 3 and she's finally home but that whole experience was just amazing. Thank you for looking after us so well. We are so blessed to have doctors and nurses that really do care and even though they are all so short staffed you can tell the love they have for their job. Thank you so much, we are very thankful for the whole experience which was nothing less than amazing.
Labor/maternity ward when quiet or outside of rush hours is absolutely amazing. You get stuck during a busy night/day/hours and you are so screwed. Unless baby is falling out don't hold your breath that you will get seen to any time soon. I gave birth, had a shower then 1 hour later was wheeled into my room and my husband kicked out. Baby was 1 hour old and we were just left to it because it was so busy. I called for nurse a few times but like I said, don't hold your breath. Such a shame as the ladies are beautiful and so caring when they can actually see you.
I would advise anyone to stay away from Rockingham Hospital. Went for major surgery at the end of June, I was taken to ICU after a complications then the next day was able to go down to the ward. Once on the ward I was ignored. First nurse I asked for help said yes she will be right back, she never came. I called again as my pain had gotten worse, a nurse came and said oh I am your nurse for the afternoon I ask for something for the pain she said yes I will be right back and she never came. I had treatment like this through my stay. I was in tears everyday. I fully understand hospitals are under staffed but this kind of treatment is wrong. So more was not right just haven't got the energy.
If I was dying and needed urgent care, I still wouldn't go to Rocko Hospital. Waited 9 hours for no tests to be done and to be insulted. I would have walked away if I could have, but I was in a wheelchair. Everyone was rude and when I asked for water from the nurse multiple times, for my medication that I have to take every 4 hours, I didn't get any. 9 hours in a wheelchair, no updates, not even a simple cup of water for my medication and at the end, they told me they won't do any tests or scans on me because "my leg isn't purple ANYMORE"
I Went in for day surgery ,and was a bit apprehensive. I couldn't fault the Nurses or doctors, all very nice, professional and understanding, They put me at ease and made the whole experience much nicer than I expected. Give them all a Payrise, they're indispensible .
Could not fault. We’re sitting here an hour and a half after arriving. In that time since presenting to emergency we’ve been triaged, RAT tested and taken through to emergency paeds ward, been seen by nurses, a doctor and received a diagnosis and medication. I could not have asked for better, more attentive care of my 3 year old daughter. Thank you so much!
hubby felt, that a bit of his hearing aid has got stuck in his ear. Went to his GP, he couldn't see anything and suggested get some oil, try at home etc. Saw the GP again, sorry, mate can't see anything in your ear. Go to Rocky Hospital. Went there, waited 2.5 hrs, as it wasn't really a life or death situation. Doctor looked, couldn't see anything but gave him a referral for Fiona Stanley. 10 days later, went there, within a minute, the bit stuck in his ear was out. So why can't they do it in Rocky?
Andi Rae Maxwell lost their heartbeat at around 6 weeks along, but Rockingham General Hospital still wouldn't help me get them out so that they could be at rest and I could heal. Their excuse was the heartbeat was detected by my OB and not them. Basically their only concern was covering their own arses. They didn't tell me I could have gotten a uterine infection and died. I was never given options or a choice. Instead I had to carry Andi around dead inside of me waiting for the day my body released them. I was made to get ultrasound after intrusive ultrasound, staring up at the image of my dead baby. I was not heard. I did not have any support. I was all alone at home when it finally happened. When he came home my husband found us on the toilet floor together covered in blood, in pain, and screaming. And this is just in Australia, let alone what the women of the US and around the world are going through. I don't even want to be alive most days. I haven't put an official complaint in YET because it still hurts too much and the complaint process is so cold. I still break down regularly.
