I sincerely hope that the person in charge reads this review. We were looking forward to our family trip and had high expectations for this place. However, we had an extremely unpleasant experience. We requested a room cleaning, but for no apparent reason, the room was not cleaned, and the door was even locked. The microwave, too, was inaccessible. I had to watch a YouTube video to figure out how to unlock it. Even now, when I think back on it, it seems so absurd that I can't help but laugh . When I explained this situation, the staff at this location offered no apologies whatsoever. I was very angry and felt disrespected. The money I spent was certainly not a small amount, and I truly don’t understand why I had to endure such an experience. Because of you, our trip is remembered as the worst. I have a lot to say, but I will stop here. Please do not assume that I am angry solely for these reasons. I feel that even this star rating is excessively generous compared to my experience
I originally had high expectations for this hotel because the scenery was beautiful. However, after we requested housekeeping, we discovered that the back door of our room had been left unlocked, which made us feel very unsafe. On top of that, our curtains had been opened, and our luggage was placed near the back door.nnWhen we reported this to the front desk, they seemed indifferent and didn’t believe what we were saying. Their response was simply, 'We always remember to lock the doors,' without any apology. We were extremely upset and felt that a hotel charging over $400USDper night should not have such issues.
We drove past this place 3 times before we realized our hotel was inside the huge-tented construction site. The front half of the hotel is a full on construction site apparently since February 2024 and it doesn’t seem like it’s moving along even tho there is construction all day. This is not disclosed and there is no one to show you how to navigate into the parking lot and to “reception”. We booked parking but parking privileges were revoked last minute which seems odd since they should know their construction crew is parking there. Instead, we had to park a few blocks away up a steep hill.nThere is no acknowledgment of the massive inconvenience that is the construction and no reduced rate either.nOnce you arrive, reception is in a hallway and check -in oddly takes ages to complete. Over the course of check-in, we had more and more people pack into this tiny hallway as they waited in line. Our room received cleaning services once and we ran out of toilet paper.nAt one point they had the shuttle driver working behind reception , although he was very nice and ended up being able to help me- it seems that upper management needs to refocus their priorities on service and staffing.nThere were countless times I exited through the wrong door to try to get outside and ended up locked out in a construction area with no obvious place to go.nThe elevator was out on the last day and there are no safety or emergency stairs anywhere where I could find. I even asked the front desk and after waiting ten minutes for someone to come to the front desk- she told me to take the other elevator and walk outside to get to my room.nOverall, our room was clean when we arrived although it had an odd odor and the view is beautiful. Couldn’t stay grumpy for long once we got outside and experienced beautiful Queenstown!
Terrible service and disregard for customers—extremely disappointing!nnMy family and I stayed at Oaks Queenstown Shores Resort during Christmas December 21-24 for three nights, spending a total of 2,362.05 NZD. I chose this lakeside hotel and paid more than five times the usual price to ensure a memorable holiday with my family, enjoying beautiful views and excellent service. Unfortunately, the experience was ruined by the hotel’s poor facilities and appalling attitude.nnFirst, my bedroom had no windows, and there was an exhaust fan installed on the ceiling. This fan could not be turned off, was extremely noisy, and certainly not designed for a quiet environment. Worse still, the air it emitted reeked of sewage, making the room uninhabitable due to both the noise and the stench.nnSecond, the central air conditioning was another major issue. When we woke up around 8 a.m., the room temperature had risen to over 30°C 86°F. It was unbearably hot and uncomfortable. I have photos to prove this. Such an environment is unacceptable, especially when staying at a so-called high-end hotel.nnThat night, I repeatedly communicated with the hotel staff, but they told me that the fan “could not be turned off” and offered no solutions. It was already midnight, and since my child was asleep, switching rooms was not an option. Left with no choice, I spent the night on the couch, completely ruining my experience. Paying such a premium only to sleep on the couch is beyond infuriating.nnWhat angered me further was the handling of the situation the next day. The staff had promised to escalate the issue to the manager and provide a reasonable explanation, but no one reached out in the morning. I had to find the duty manager myself to explain the problem. The manager’s response was dismissive, merely acknowledging that there had been a “report about an odor” but claiming there was nothing they could do. She then turned away to handle other tasks, showing complete indifference to my concerns.nnAs a paying customer, I made no unreasonable demands. I only expected the services to match the exorbitant price. Instead, I was met with poor facilities, inadequate service, and a lack of basic respect. This experience made me feel disrespected, ignored, and deeply disappointed.nnI strongly urge anyone considering Oaks Queenstown Shores Resort to think twice. This hotel not only has outdated facilities but also offers shockingly poor service and dismissive attitudes toward its customers. If you don’t want to pay a premium to endure such a nightmare, look elsewhere.nnRating: 0 star
Not someone who usually writes a review. But our stay at Oaks was the most horrible stay so here I am. Room servicing was only done twice in our 5 day stay despite requesting for it every morning it was included in our package anyway.Parking was not less than 600 meters away and it was all uphill. Walking back to the rooms after entering the hotel was not easy either. Not to blame all the receptionists but there was one receptionist who was pretty rude to us despite repeated inconveniences being caused to us-when we asked about room cleaning, she literally asked to bring the used towels to the reception ourselves in exchange for new ones. She never seemed to acknowledge all the grievances we had-she would just say “sorry IF you feel that way”, which was arrogant.nThe room was tiny and poorly planned out with the charging sockets poorly placed.nThe only thing nice about this stay was the location. We could only tolerate this stay because of the beautiful Queenstown.nI would really not recommend this stay even if you all find this a little cheaper.
