Nepean Teaching Hospital is a 520-bed teaching hospital. Nepean Hospital is located at the base of the Blue Mountains in Kingswood, New South Wales, Australia.Nepean Emergency Department treats over 54,000 patients annually. The Emergency Department is a purpose built facility with an adjacent short stay unit, and provides emergency care for a diverse case mix including paediatric patients. It is supported by multi-speciality services including 24 beds in the Intensive Care Unit, 24-hour interventional cardiology, hematology, trauma services, neurosurgery, thoracic surgery, urology, plastic surgery, paediatrics and obstetrics and gynaecology.Also on the Nepean Hospital campus are a Neonatal ICU, Tresillian Family Care Centre, Menopause Service, Nepean Cancer Care Centre, Diabetes Service, Rehabilitation medicine and the Wentworth Centre for Drug and Alcohol Medicine. Nepean hospital hosts 14 operating theatres, with 6 operating theatres which opened in March 2012.Nepean Hospital's operating suite is a 24-hour service covering urology; gynae & obstetrics; colo-rectal; upper GIT; facio-maxillary; plastics; thoracic; pain team; dental; orthopaedics; vascular; neuro; ENT; general; some Paediatric; some endoscopic and emergency/trauma surgical specialties. Additionally, 24 hour access includes CT scanner and MRI services.

Went to the emergency department on Tuesday, waited around 3.5 hours. Was seen to, lovely nurses took care of me. After an X-ray, Blood test, ECG and CT scan I found out what was wrong with me. I stayed one night in the Short Stay emergency department ward, staff were lovely, nurses and doctors. Thank you so much for your support and helping me find out what were my symptoms and what the problem was. I felt well taken care of, only glitch was being discharged took longer than expected.
I was up in emergency recently with a family member who was quite sick. The treatment my loved one received from start to finish was kind and professional. Our nurse that we had in emergency Caleb was EXCELLENT. So was the attending doctor. Thank you so much!
I visited Day Surgery at Nepean Hospital on December 11, 2024, for a tubal ligation. While in recovery, I experienced significant distress, hyperventilating due to being overwhelmed, as no one informed me where I was upon waking up. Having asthma and a history of nausea after anesthesia, I was told the night before surgery that I would be kept overnight if any complications arose. Despite hyperventilating and vomiting extensively post-surgery, I was discharged the same day.nnTo add to this, no staff member provided recovery instructions or asked if my husband or I had any questions. I left the hospital feeling very weak, sick, and with many unanswered concerns about my recovery.nnWhile I understand the pressure on medical staff, clear communication and proper patient care are critical, and I feel this aspect was overlooked in my case.
0 star review! Not one star!nOther than having two near death experiences the same medical treating team broke confidentiality twice!!nSo this Christmas, I was stolen from. I’ve been in hospital for a month- I don’t need to be there any longer but the negligent doctor won’t let me leave- I’ve applied to tribunal because I have the right to leave. On the second day I was there I nearly died of asphyxia from allergic reaction to the medication: I’m allergic to antipsychotics. I told them. They either didn’t believe me or they are just negligent. A day or so after they gave me similar medication- I told them that I’m allergic. Nearly killed me. Again. Now I’m on a medication that isn’t killing me at this dosage. Because on higher doses it causes asphyxiation also as it’s a low dose of the second medication. It also causes me to feel high. I don’t take drugs. So it’s terrible. I’m disgusted by the malpractice! I’ve emailed the HCCC, other ombudsman for health, the director of the hospital and a legal team about the malpractice. I’ll also contact the media as the nursing staff yelled at me when I asked them to clean up another patients shit smeared on the floor because the negligent staff didn’t help her when she said she was suicidal. They also didn’t do anything other than laugh at me when I reported my clothing stolen out of the communal dryer and in response to me politely asking to change treating teams after nearly dying from asphyxiation from the allergic reaction. I’m outraged. They denied that my purse was stolen, though it was. They requested to see a docket when I bought a new phone charger, following when my chargers were stolen, because I made complaints. They denied me right to talk to the police to report my stolen property. When I asked to transfer to another hospital, they denied me to even have a conversation about it.
Attended with my partner today initial triage questions the sit in waiting room for two hours saw dr who asked same left again waiting blood test for 2 hours walked out nurses at station 7 were laughing and saying they were busy. Asked howany patients die in emergency was told lots absolute disgrace this place a joke
