Story

Mezethes is a Greek Taverna located at Salamanca Square in Hobart, Tasmania. Our position at the end of Mr Wooby’s Lane is where we occupy one the the many historic bond stores that reflect so much of the early settlement era of Hobart.

We look forward to having you make a reservation to dine in our Hobart Greek restaurant.

Mezethes means “many little dishes” or “to graze” and it’s the way we eat at home, a series of small tasty dishes that combine to make a meal.

Great restaurant with really excellent food. Good variety, excellent quality and good portion size. Also have a good wine selection. We ate here twice and thoroughly recommend it, however it is busy so suggest you book. Also the waiting staff were working very hard all the time, but we felt the kitchen might be a bit overwhelmed with capacity as there did tend to be a wait for food. It didn’t bother us as we are happy to chat and savour our food and don’t like it served at break neck speed, but some people were less happy. So just don’t go if you are in a rush! Sit and savour the ambience, enjoy a glass (or two!) of wine and chill. The food is worth it!

This Hobart eatery is sensational. Beautiful food, my wife and I get sick of paying for something we could have done a better job of at home. This was a very pleasant find. Open til quite late and a magnificent menu, filled with variety. Great service, friendly and well priced.

Mezethes is my favourite place to eat in Hobart. It is always great food and service wise. We like to get the meat share plate - you get the most deliciously cooked meat with the signature and famous potatoes. Another favourite is the dips - we normally get the mix plate it comes with a choice of 4 dips and a big bowl of bread. They will give you more bread if you run out. They are kid friendly and happy to bring out the kids meals first. They also have high chair. The food is most definitely worth the price and the visit- i would advise to book ahead if you can.

Dips and octopus starters were great. Mixed grill for two was terrible. Meat was all piled on top of each other, so flavours all blended into one. Bread went soggy quickly. Pulled meat was dry. After hearing so much about this place, we were disappointed. Staff were good.

Possibly some of the best Greek food found outside of Greece. All home made - absolutely fantastic. Great service and nice atmosphere as well.
