Story

We are the only bird-only Veterinary clinic in Victoria and are located in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. We provide all aspects of avian care and advice. This includes medical and surgical care, hospitalisation, preventative medicine, behaviour advice, toys and enrichment, pelleted diets and nutritional supplements. The practice is run by three avian veterinarians - Dr Colin Walker, Dr Corrie Pinkster and Dr Stacey Gelis as well as a support staff of 4 veterinary nurses to care for your feathered friends.
Our opening hours are:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 8.30 - 5.30
Wednesday: 8.30 - 7.30
Saturday: 8.30 - 12

After calling around bird vets when I found my bird with a sore and bloody leg, the Melbourne Bird Veterinary Clinic were the best price by around $100, I was hoping the quality would be equal and I was not disappointed.nnI was able to book in an emergency appointment ASAP, where I was given good advice, options with my birds care, and reassurance, and the staff were all very welcoming and friendly. I got a follow up appointment a week later and my Bird is doing so much better.nnI will be coming back when ever my bird needs!

I've been to this avian vet a few times now with my Lovebirds, seen three different vets, and can highly recommend them all. The lovely reception team look after you over the phone and whilst waiting, and all the vets are extremely knowledgeable. I have tried other places but this one is by far the best.nThe reception area doubles up as a shop selling high quality and safe bird perches and toys and a good variety of food.nTheir consultation fees I find reasonable compared to other places and less expensive than others given the quality of their team knowledge. I feel my birds are in great hands at Melbourne Bird Vet Clinic

My bird had a problem with eyes. Dr. Pat was really good, checked thoroughly. Answered all our questions. The receptionists were all good and knew a lot about birds and what they like to eat.

I traveled from Ballarat to see an avian vet and I feel that the journey was 100% worth it. Dr. Matt was incredibly thorough in diagnosing my pet pigeon, carefully considering all possible issues and explaining the various diagnostic pathways. My partner, who isn’t very familiar with pigeons, was the one who took the bird to the consultation. He found the experience highly educational and appreciated the time Dr. Matt took to explain everything in detail.nnI was particularly grateful that Dr. Matt personally called me when the blood test results came back 48hrs later. He took the time to explain what the results meant and provided valuable guidance on how to ensure the best quality of life for my bird given his disabilities.nnI would also like to extend my thanks to Mon, one of the vet nurses, for her excellent follow-up care. After my call with Dr. Matt, she kindly emailed me copies of my bird’s X-rays so I could review them and keep them on file. A day later, she provided an update on the additional test results we were waiting for, which I greatly appreciated.nnOverall, I would highly recommend this vet for anyone with a bird and would absolutely make the trip again!
