I had my baby cockatoo sick due to weather change and I rushed to get avian appointments but the vets near my place were nothing else but just absolute butchers they lack empathy level were very rude then my friend recommended me to The unusual pets in Ferntree Gully and as soon as I gave them a call they booked me straight away and since the minute I stepped in the door I was relieved the level of compassion they have towards their profession and level of empathy they have towards the birds and all their patients words are not sufficient to describe it they were crystal clear with the treatment plan from the start no hidden costs or anything and since our visit yesterday my baby is feeling heaps better he's eating his foods and lot more active .nThank you heaps may God bless you
First of all, the vets in unusual pet are all amazing friendly and professional. We’ve been going there for 2 years. But I bought a box of Oaten hay there for the first time yesterday, found it’s all crushed hay and my rabbit doesn’t like it. I had to check if it just happened to the surface of the hay so I turned over the hay, turned out that the whole box of hay is crushed. Very very disappointed.nnI once bought timothy compressed hay before, so I didn’t expect that the hay will be perfectly long and nice. I knew it will be crushed in some level. But this is in a ridiculous bad condition. It is the most chopped hay I have ever bought.nnAgain, the vets there are great, 100% recommended. But the hay is not recommended. Unless your baby bunny doesn’t mind. But mine does.nnThe 8kg box of hay is $ 43.25 inc the surcharge.nnI went this morning and asked if we can return the hay, but we can’t. Which is understandable but just want to let everyone know that it happened to us.
What can I say? They'd be amongst the best exotic pet vets for small mammals in Australia, if not the best. They're thorough, the entire staff work as a team and communicate, and most importantly they're honest. They WILL NOT let your family member/pet suffer unnecessarily.nnUnlike others who'll give you false hope, and that false hope usually comes with $1,000's of additional tests. Especially when your baby's are rats.nnWhen it does reach that time, they're also one of the most compassionate clinics I've ever seen attended.nnThankyou to the entire staff. True professionals, who you can just tell really care for animals
We have been visiting The Unusual Pet Vets for the past three years and have always had positive experiences—until our most recent visit, which unfortunately fell below our expectations.nWe arrived five minutes early for our scheduled appointment but were not seen for over half an hour. I had taken time off work to ensure we arrived on time, so the extended wait was particularly frustrating. Upon arrival, we were told we would be seen shortly and asked to wait. It was only at the end of our appointment that we learned an emergency case had been prioritized ahead of us. While we completely understand that emergencies happen, it would have been greatly appreciated if this had been communicated to us earlier. A simple phone call advising us to arrive 15–20 minutes later would have saved us a lot of time and inconvenience.nAdditionally, we observed another client who arrived about 10 minutes after us and waited nearly 20 minutes before being informed that his appointment was likely booked at a different location. It’s unclear why it took so long for this to be clarified.nAt the end of our appointment, I mentioned to the receptionist that a heads-up about the delay would have been helpful. She responded that she hadn’t anticipated the emergency would take so long, which is understandable. However, she then added that our appointment was booked for an hour—which missed the point of my feedback entirely.nLastly, during our consultation, which took place in a room with visibility behind the reception desk, both of my school-aged children noticed the receptionist scrolling on her mobile phone. This gave the impression of inattentiveness, especially given the delays and lack of communication we experienced.nWe’re sharing this feedback in the hope that it helps improve communication and service for future visits. We value the care provided by your team and hope this was an isolated incident.
Our bunny hurt its hind leg over the Easter long weekend. After receiving treatment from an emergency vet at another centre a few days ago, we were so relieved to finally consult with a specialist vet today. Lara was reassuring, calm, knowledgeable and clear in her advice. In addition, Shiro our bunny, who is usually wary and frightful, was comfortable in her hands. Thank you so much to everyone at the Unusual Pet Vet for your kindness.
