Most loveliest Hoyts, always quite clean & has the best comfiest seats even in standard class! they’re abit similar to the gold class recliners, on top of that the snack bar is incredible you can grab all your own snacks & make your own drinks, with kind friendly service as well definitely recommend coming here to watch a movie with friends.nnHowever though the prices at the movies are quite shockingly expensive!
The cinema looks great from the outside—really flashy and inviting. But inside, the seats are in bad shape; they’re peeling and worn out. It would be awesome if they could fix them up to make the whole experience better.
Love the seats. Been to most of the screens and they are comfortable layout and decent size. Gold class is good. The food was a bit average but that could have been a once off, not sure. Service was good though.
Great theatres with clean and spacious seating. Even in the standard sessions, the seats recline, with plenty of leg room, giving a comfortable viewing experience.
I visited Hoyts Chadstone in Malvern East, and it was a nightmare from start to finish. To begin, the kiosk system is utterly frustrating. Make one mistake, and it forces you to start all over again, including logging back into your membership. To make matters worse, the kiosk screens were filthy, covered in smudges and fingerprints from everyone touching them, and no one was cleaning them. To top it off, there wasn’t a single hand sanitiser station in sight. I asked the workers if they had any sanitiser, but they were all standing in a circle at Chur Burger, talking and laughing, clearly doing nothing. When I asked, they all looked at me with an attitude, and one girl flat-out said, “No,” in the most dismissive way possible.nnI also saw an elderly man struggling to use the kiosk, and not a single worker stepped in to help him. I had to assist him myself! That’s the level of care Hoyts Chadstone provides for its customers.nnThe food area was even worse. At Chur Burger, there was no one serving for 30 minutes! During that time, I watched a worker named Sheridan walking around talking to multiple staff members instead of doing her job. She spent time chatting at the popcorn area, then moved to the café, and finally went to Ben & Jerry’s. There, she pretended to strangle herself as a joke by putting her hands around her throat. What kind of behaviour is this in front of customers? Completely unprofessional and unacceptable.nnMeanwhile, customers like me were ignored. The lack of professionalism was appalling.nnThe toilets? Disgusting. Blood on the seat, bins for sanitary products overflowing, toilet paper all over the floor, and water and soap spilled across the basins. Instead of joking and messing around, the staff could have been cleaning these filthy areas.nnWhen someone finally came to Chur Burger, the guy was scratching his beard while handling food. Absolutely unhygienic. The pulled pork was a dry, bitter disaster clearly just chopped, overcooked charcoal-flavoured pork. Zero effort in preparation.nnAt the popcorn area, another employee looked equally miserable, responding to a simple question about popcorn sizes as if she couldn’t care less about customers.nThe sweets and drink station was disgusting. Drinks were spilled everywhere, and a cleaning spray bottle with a pink liquid was left out in the open. Isn’t that supposed to be stored away in a chemical cupboard? A huge safety hazard, especially for children.nnBefore the movie, Hoyts displays a message to customers saying, “RESPECT GOES BOTH WAYS: We ask that you treat our team members with respect and refrain from disturbing others. HOYTS has a zero-tolerance policy on abusive or disruptive behaviour towards our team members or other guests. Enjoy your movie!” Honestly, I find this a bit ridiculous. They lecture customers about respect, but then turn around and subject us to absolute nonsense and incompetence while we’re there. Maybe they should focus on improving their service before asking for respect. To top it off, my reclining chair was broken, it wouldn’t recline at all while my husband’s worked fine? Plenty of people seem to complain about broken chairs, but nothing has been done to fix them. Why?nnAs someone with a background in hospitality and now a childcare worker, I noticed every avoidable mistake here. From the inattentive and unmotivated staff to the lack of basic hygiene, it was a shocking failure on all levels. This isn’t just poor service, it’s a complete disregard for customers.nnWill never return. Disgusting. Get your act together, Hoyts Chadstone.
