Great place to enjoy a truly cinematic experience! We visit Classic Cinemas regularly - not only for the various film festivals throughout the year, but also for casual movie nights in a fantastic atmosphere. I love the location and the great variety of surrounding restaurants. Most importantly, the staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. When they turn on the turntable and play unique vinyl records before a film, I am in cinematic heaven. It feels like a wonderful time machine, taking me back to my European roots where going to the movies was always a special occasion.
For the last 4 years, The Classic has provided a venue for me to rent out a 28 person cinema for my birthday. The last two years, they have also made cocktails I designed for my guests, and this year even let me decorate the glasses on a whim. The staff have been extremely friendly, helpful, and have taken every measure to make sure my reoccurring event runs smoothly, shoutout to Phoebe on the emails.nnI've been frequenting this cinema since I was a pre-teen in the early 2000s. I saw Mean Girls here as a year 7 boy. I saw Garden State here and triggered my indie-wank phase. I saw Con Air for the first time in this cinemas hallowed halls. My mind was warped by Beau is Afraid here. My love of cinema has been thoroughly shaped by this institution. It's not only great to have this as my local still, but also a place where I can celebrate with my friends. Long live The Classic.
Always shows great films, staff are helpful, choc tops are yumm!! Lifts are quick, floors are clean. Upstairs and downstairs toilets are handy.
I love this independent cinema so much! Very close to the city, clean cinema interiors, decent leg room, great customer service at the bar, and polite moviegoers. My boyfriend and I came to watch the restoration of the Seven Samurai, and had the best time. By far my best movie going experience. For an independent cinema in Melbourne, I would say that the screen sizes in this cinema is generous. The wine I had with the movie was amazing, and a huge serving too. We also ordered nachos to eat while watching and it was delicious. I also love that this is the only place I can go to in Melbourne that consistently screens old Hollywood classics, which is my favorite genre. I will definitely be back. I had the best time.
WOW!!!! THE BEST CINEMA EVER!!! I am sitting here at work daydreaming about being in classic cinemas. I come here all the time, it is my ideal night out!!!! I LOVE THE CLASSIC I WISH I WAS THERE!!! Best popcorn and da best movies and impeccable vibes and cool jazz!!! Cheap tix and good deals! Only two cons which is that they changed their mint choc tops to the pre-packaged kind and also THEY ARE NEVER HIRING RAHHHH HIRE ME!!!!!! I love you classic!!!! I will be loyal to you 4 eva!
