Wednesday’s are $10 tickets @palacecinemas and I made the most of it by viewing #thephoenicianschemenFor this review I’m focussing on #palacecinemacomo in #southyarranI’ve already reviewed Palace’s Moonee Ponds cinema and this cinema is quite different in decor. The area is known for its high end shops and pricey real estate and this cinema reflects the local trends with its opulence, luxurious decor and arty furnishings, including a baby grand, velvet seating, chandeliers and chaise lounges.nThe movie was held in one of their largest so lacked atmosphere with all 8 of us. The seats were comfortable but not reclining although I imagine there are recliners in others. Sound system and screen clear. Best to book seats in the middle to maximise your viewing experience.nLocated within the Como Complex, plenty of access to coffee shops downstairs or out on #toorakroad or #chapelstreet which are abundant.nThere is a platinum service but it’s out of my budget, but no doubt is quite unique.nI caught the train which stops at South Yarra then a quick 5 minute walk to the cinema. Trams also pass by on the Toorak Road and Chapel Street lines. Parking within Como is $10 if you have your ticket validated.nRoom for improvement: cleaning between sessions. Finding popcorn in your seat is off putting.nNotes: wheelchair and disabled friendly with seating to cater for every need. Kid friendly. Toilets clean and disabled facility available.nn#tripadvisor #tripadvisorreview #tripadvisorreviewer #googlelocalguide #googlelocalguides #level10googlereviewer #letsguiden#thewanderingreviewer @thewanderingreviewer
If you're after an 'artsy' cinema experience, you're better off going to Village Cinemas Rivoli. The artsy element here is limited to the front-of-shop. The cinemas themselves are lacking, you're not drawn to the screen; the design feels completely boxed in and claustrophobic once seated. The screen is small, the sound lacks impact, and the seats aren't being cleaned between sessions. To top it off, the ticket prices are the same as Hoyts and Village Cinemas - both of which offer a noticeably better overall experience.
Lights were left on in the cinema when the movie started, very bright spotlights for the cleaners. There was no staff anywhere. All of the patrons got up missing the first minutes of the movie as we couldn't see the screen. The previews could not be seen either. We found a switch on the wall and it turned the lights off. The customers had to do this. Dated cinema 4. Very poor.
An excellent independent theatre, which showed the Italian Film Festival.nTheatre 2 is a small personal theatre with comfortable spacious seats, giving a excellent view of the screen.
I went Tonight to a screening of Snow White and the only reason I'm not grooving this for five stars is because one of the managers on duty was so rude her name was Emelyn. I I used to work at a cinema when I was younger so giving great customer service is something I would always do. She was very rude and dismissive so if her managers are reading this please have a talk to her as she needs more training to work on her customer service skillsnnOn the other hand Thomas who works behind the Candy bar Is very lovely and very helpful. Please commend him on his great customer service skills as I can see him being a manager one day.
