We tried Lux and the service was great. Food was good nothing flash and we got complimentary popcorn and soda. The seats weren’t overly comfortable and some didn’t work properly. Luckily we were the only ones in there so we could try other seats. For a premium product that cost us $45 per ticket not including food it’s an above average experience. Given the only issue we had was the seating.
Hoyts Vic Gardens is a serviceable cinema. It’s quite tidy and the staff are pretty helpful. All cinemas at this Hoyts have comfortable recliners. The Xtremescreen cinemas are small in terms of screen, audio and audience capacity compared to Melbourne Central, Docklands and Chadstone where the Xtremescreens at those locations are equipped with big screens and a spacious room. At Vic Gardens, please be cautious when booking for LUX. Some of the LUX sessions are a shared room with Xtremescreens 1 or 2. Meaning that you’ll not have a private experience like most LUX sessions. You’ll also be far from the screen since the LUX area at is located at the very back of the Xtremescreen theatre. If you want a more private experience and don’t want to look at a screen that’s too far away, don’t book LUX. But overall, this cinema is fine, not perfect but a decent place to watch movies.
Updated ReviewnDate of Visit: 18 January 2025nnI decided to celebrate my birthday by attending Wicked at the Lux cinema Cinema 4, and I was absolutely blown away by the exceptional service, high-quality food, and generous servings.nnWe were warmly greeted at the front before heading to the Lux Lounge to check out the menu.nnWe chose the 5-starter deal, which was amazing value for money considering the portion sizes and the quality of the food. It was so much that we actually left 1.5 plates untouched! Our selection included southern fried chicken, buffalo chicken, mixed vegetable spring rolls, squid chips, and spicy potato wedges. Each dish came with its own unique sauce, and everything was freshly cooked with premium ingredients. I wish I had taken photos, but honestly, there wasn’t a single thing to fault.nnFor drinks, we went with the Toblerone classic cocktail. While it still hit the spot, I was slightly disappointed that the glass was smaller this time, and it lacked the usual garnish the strawberry was missing.nnI loved how the movie ran for 160 minutes, and we were able to request our food to be served 90 minutes in. It arrived just before the scheduled time, which was perfect.nnThe cinema itself was clean, intimate, and had outstanding sound quality. However, some maintenance might be needed as our recliner chairs were broken.nnMy only suggestion would be to offer more variety in food packages, as the 5-dish deal was huge—something smaller might suit couples or smaller groups better.nnOh and I love how you get a complimentary Pepsi max and popcorn. Adds to the experience.nnOverall, I would highly recommend this cinema. With validated parking, great service, and their rewards program, it’s a fantastic option for a premium movie experience.nnThe whole evening felt like an intimate viewing of the movie, which made it even more special.n..........................................................................nGreat service, amazing sound quality and comfortable seating, great ticket prices at last just wish they didn't charge an online booking fee would have rated 5 but they never seen to have frozen coke and prices for candy bar is expensive. Always clean. My choice of cinema to attend be sure to check out Lux
I recently visited this cinema expecting a pleasant movie-going experience. Unfortunately, the staff seemed disengaged, and their demeanor made simple requests, like ordering popcorn, feel unwelcome. This lack of enthusiasm detracted from the overall enjoyment. I hope management addresses this to enhance customer service in the future.
LUX cinema was okay. The cinema attendants were helpful & friendly. Food was a bit slow coming out to us. I found the chicken tacos a little overcooked and my seat was creaky; it didn’t function as well as the seat next to me.
