This is definitely one of those hidden gems you come across randomly when traveling.  We were just wondering around the city and came across this weathering steel front door and was curious to know what was behind.  We ventured in and were so pleasantly surprised.  Loved the retro early 20th century french vibe.  The friendly staff even wore clothes reminiscent from that period, yet they looked contemporary and not at all dated.  Drinks were innovative and delicious.  Was also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, which was amazing.  Highly recommend the eggplant fries and the braised pork belly with Thai salad.  Great place for a meal or just a drink.  It was definitely one of our favourite places for food we went to on this trip to Melbourne.  Will definitely return for more.

This is a very busy cocktail bar full of trendy Melbournians on a weekend. We came after dinner and It was already packed with people. We had to wait for quite a while to get a table. 
The deco is a mix of contemporary and classy Southern style. All the drinks are very well made. You know it's a legit place when they ask you whether you want scotch or bourbon for your "old-fashioned".

Amazing service from the moment we walked in but you do need to keep ordering to avoid being shown the door. Huge cocktail menu. Really enjoyed being able to order the house take on an espresso martini with a 12yo whiskey base. We ordered the "feed me" food option and everything was delicious and plentiful. Great place for a decadent night out or a special occasion. Great for a group of friends as you can all order different drinks and sample your friends selections.

This place is one of my favourite speakeasies in Melbourne. Service is always great, staff are always friendly and knowledgeable with their drinks and recommend according to what you like. We had a wonderful night on Thursday and tried some very delicious cocktails. They also have a huge range of whisky and cocktails to serve. Loved it.

I’ve tried several times (including different days at 8pm, 10pm and 12am) now to find this place full up every time which seems to defeat the whole point of a “secret cocktail bar”. There’s nothing secret about this place anymore it seems. 

Bartenders are world class here with a lot of showcase and a really interesting cocktail selection. Would love to keep exploring the menu but it’s just too difficult to enjoy them in this consistently overcrowded space. I would recommend 1806, The Everleigh or Bar Americano for a more unique and intimate cocktail experience.
