Coda, now est. for 8 years offers Modern Asian tucked away in the basement of 141 Flinders Lane, Melbourne

Story

Nestled in one of Melbourne’s iconic laneways (basement Oliver Lane, and Flinders Lane), Coda is located in the busiest and most dynamic culinary precinct the city has to offer. A stone’s throw away from the Yarra River, Flinders Street station and Federation Square, the restaurant enjoys hosting a diverse group of diners from frequenting locals who live and work on its doorstep to diners from all over the globe. Upon entering the restaurant you will be greeted by a member of our friendly team headed by Mykal and Kate Bartholomew and Executive Chef Adam D’Sylva. The trio has assembled a dedicated team with highly sought-after experience from many international and Melbourne-based restaurants.

Upon opening our doors in 2009, we were thrilled to receive the The Age Good Food Guide’s ‘HatAward’ and have maintained it ever since.

Coda’s relaxed environment provides a versatile setting for a range of engagements. Whatever your occasion – from a quick pre-football meal, to a long Sunday lunch, business dining or a cosy seat for an anniversary – we look forward to your visit. While bookings are highly recommended, patrons without a reservation can enjoy the full menu at the bar.

I must say that everything is well-thought out, well-composed, and well-cooked. The techniques being used and the chef's understanding of the ingredients is top notch. Fusion is always a hit or miss, and this place falls somewhere in between. You'll appreciate that they're trying things and you can see it in the dishes that they really put a lot of effort in it. Actually, you can literally see it in their open kitchen. Ask for recommendations on what goes with the dishes. Like the eggplant side dish goes well with rice (we weren't informed), and the steak could go well with some starch or salad. But yes, definitely give this place a try. The price is worth it.

Great meal, and knowledgeable staff. The food is truly asian fusion, and very well crafted. We had a mix of the starts and small plates which left us satisfied but not stuffed. The staff are helpful and know their menus well. A fun night. Booking is necessary

Located just off Flinders lane Coda is a classy and modern restaurant perfect for special occasions. The service was very good, we were looked after well. The food was delicious, however I felt as though some dishes didn’t match the price tag. Drinks menu was extensive but as expected very expensive. We enjoyed everything but wouldn’t rush back right away as there are so many other places to try!

Been living in Melbourne for over a year and it's hands down the best dining experience I've had yet the food was incredible and perfect timing between dishes the wait staff were fantastic, sociable and knowledgeable and it was so nice to see the kitchen staff enjoying themselves and making jokes with one another. All round a great culture at coda and a fantastic dining experience. Good work to the whole team.

We had a nice dinner at Coda on a Saturday night. The service was very nice. Good choice of cocktails (lots of gins available). Speaking about the food, dishes are designed to be shared. It was good and tasty fusion-food. This was a nice experience at Coda (even if it was a bit loud).
