The Press Club

About

Take your place in the plush surrounds of George Calombaris’ Press Club – all sleek gold, tan and creamy luxury.

Story

In October 2006, the four directors joined together to form MAdE Establishment, and opened their first venue, The Press Club Restaurant and Bar. This began a new era for George Calombaris and cemented his place as a culinary star for his Modern Greek Cuisine - never seen before Melbourne; where modern twists to traditional Greek cuisine has put this restaurant on the global map and has diner’s wanting more.

Take your place in the plush surrounds of George Calambaris’ Press Club – all sleek gold, tan and creamy luxury. Created in the smaller space adjoining the old premises, Calombaris has let his imagination run wild. Settle into a booth (there’s only ten) and take in the high-street glamour and elegant Greek cuisine with a full degustation menu.

Want to try something new? Treat yourself to inventive and experimental molecular gastronomy from head chef Luke Croston with Press Club Projects, a private experimental kitchen and dining experience.

Next door to The Press Club at 52 Flinders Street, is Press Club - Projects, George Calombaris' creative and development kitchen. This space can be booked privately for up to 8 guests and offers a completely interactive experience as the chefs experiment with new dishes to make the menu in The Press Club.

The 4 course lunch menu was by far the greatest meal of my life, no exaggeration. Every dish was seasoned and flavoured perfectly, and every morsel was a dance on my tongue. The attention to detail is really quite spectacular.

A great fine dinning experience. The food, smaller intimate setting and service really make you feel like you're apart of the Greek extended family. Couldn't fault the food. I just wanted a bit more a wow factor for the price you pay. Nevertheless it's completely worth it.

First time at The Press Club and I was blown away. I admit, I was expecting "old school" fine dining. You know where everything is so perfect you feel uncomfortable and nothing is really new? Not here. This was a totally new experience in fine dining. Welcoming, warm, playful. The service was wonderful, the food a delight and the atmosphere was so beautiful—that ceiling, wow! My partner and I would come back here in a heartbeat. Couldn't recommend it enough. If you can splurge, go the 8 courses, totally worth it!

I have visited with my mom and it was our first experience of modern greek. We had 5 course Keresma menu and we absolutely loved it!! The food and the service were AMAZING. The bread before meal was very different from other restaurant. It was interesting and also very tasty. The lamb dish was the best lamb i have ever had. I highly recommend this restaurant. Its worth the money.

I really cannot afford to dine like this on a regular basis however, my lord, it was worth it! Exceptional service, food, beverages, atmosphere. Truly a beautiful experience for me and my daughter on a girls weekend in Melbourne.
