Chin Chin absolutely lives up to the hype. The food was fantastic, full of flavour and beautifully presented. We went with the chef’s curated menu, which was a great way to experience a variety of dishes without having to decide. Every course felt thoughtfully curated and perfectly paced.nnThe atmosphere is vibrant and energetic. The music, lighting and buzz of the restaurant create a really fun dining experience that feels very Melbourne. It’s lively without feeling chaotic.nnService was smooth and attentive throughout the evening, and the staff did a great job guiding the flow of the Feed Me menu. Overall, a great spot for a night out with friends or a special dinner. Would happily come back again.
Nice food and great atmosphere. Dinner time is extremely crowded and if you like crowd, and music then this place is for you!nnThis Asian themed restaurant has a hippy environment and service staff are very enthusiastic and polite. Service was great and upon us providing feedback that the food served were not warm, they immediately bring them back and ensure our meals are served warm.nnOysters: pretty average I feel. Ok to skipnnYellow curry-spiced fried rice: nice when it’s hot and the flavour is just right. Crab meat is added too to enhance this dishnnBBQ lamb: awesome and the meat would drop off easily from the bone when you cut it. It’s well seasoned and we love it very muchnnWe also ordered a few pint of beer and sat at their corner counter seat. The only one feedback is that it was freezing cold at the corner of their bar counter seating. Their big air conditioning fan is positioned in a way to blow at that corner bar counter direction - way too freezing cold. That’s the only downside you need to note.
$89 per head banquet is the best value here and staff are flexible on whats on offer based preference or allergies. For 3 people we were full and couldn't finish the finish dish but if we were still hungry they said they'll bring out more free of charge. The deserts were okay and service was attentive.
Went there for a late lunch as this place comes highly recommended. At 3pm on a Tue, the restaurant was almost empty, with only two tables occupied. I asked for a table for 3, but the manager who appeared to be the senior staff member seated us at a tiny table that could barely fit two. When I requested one of the empty window tables, he dismissed it nonchalantly, saying, “Those are for 4,” even though they were all unoccupied. His snobbish attitude really put me off and completely ruined the mood.nnAs for the food, it didn’t taste authentic Asian—which is fine since it’s meant to be “fusion”—but everything was far too sweet for my liking. The only saving grace was the nice ’80s music they played. To be fair, aside from the manager, the other waiters were pleasant and provided good service.nnThat said, I won’t be returning. Melbourne has no shortage of genuinely good Asian restaurants to choose from.
Outstanding!nChin Chin on Flinders Lane was an absolute win. We turned up on a busy Friday night with no booking and honestly didn’t expect much luck, but the guy at the door was brilliant. Super helpful, genuinely empathetic, and went out of his way to sort us out with a table at short notice. That kind of service immediately puts you in a good mood before you’ve even sat down.nnNow the food… wow! The caramelised sticky pork was ridiculous in the best possible way. Crunchy on the outside, beautifully tender in the middle, packed with flavour and just the right level of spice. I genuinely couldn’t stop smiling while eating it and didn’t want the plate to end. One of those dishes you keep thinking about after you’ve left. For me personally, the best dish I’ve had in Melbourne.nnThe crispy barramundi with green apple salad was also excellent. Fresh, light, and perfectly balanced. The spring rolls deserve their own mention because they were some of the best I’ve ever had: crisp, flavourful, and seriously addictive.nnEven my daughter cleaned up her prawn egg noodles, which says a lot.nnThe atmosphere was buzzing without being overwhelming and was loud enough to feel fun, relaxed enough to enjoy the night. Classic Chin Chin energy, and for good reason. We’ll absolutely be back when we visit Melbourne again.
