The French Brasserie

French fine dinning is never our thing. It always seems bit too formal and serious. We came to this place for a dinner party just before the new year. The place looks very classy. Service was very attentive and professional. All the dishes looked great. What let the place down is probably the flavour. Everything is well made, but not exceptional. After spending $150 per person including couple of glasses of wines, we were tempted to make a quick run to a fast food joint to fill our stomach. Style over substance is probably a bit harsh. We are relatively new to french fine dinning. So it might take us sometime to get used to it.

We had a beautiful experience here choosing the $95 set menu which included french onion soup, smoked salmon, barramundi, fillet steak and a strawberry dessert. All the food was sublime, cooked and seasoned to perfection. We did buy a bowl of fries which were served with the steak. I've a big appetite but did not leave hungry. The staff were attentive and helpful. The owner was kind enough to give us a few complimentary drinks once he knew it was our wedding anniversary which was very kind of him. Our bill was $232 with a few drinks which I feel given the quality of the food, service and restaurant as a whole represented great value. I would highly recommend the degustation menu and will be coming back the next time I'm in Melbourne. Great job guys you made our anniversary something very special, thank YOU.

One of my favourites in Melbourne. Like being in France minus the 24hrs flight! Great service, fantastic wine menu and really French cuisine, scargots are great. Atmosphere is always enjoyable too and location is ideal.

Very welcomed when we get in, nice decoration, great place, good location, fantastic staff, very friendly French owner, tasty and exceptional food. We had a great time with our 3 years old son. Top of the list of restaurant to experiment and have regular meals. Thank you so much The French Brasserie team. Merci beaucoup.

I have always had great food, great hosts and wait staff. They are very knowledgeable and know what they are talking about. This is also a great place to get a preshow dinner.
