We happened upon this place as it is close to where we stayed in Wanaka. This is a solid Chinese food choice with a few interesting fusion dishes. Varied menu, lots of choices for meat, fish & veg lovers. The dishes seemed mostly designed to be eaten with rice, but they don't come with it, so you may want to order rice on the side. Service was quick near closing, but it does get quite busy and the small kitchen takes a bit to produce the food when the seating is full. Good break from the usual meat pie type of dinner, recommended.
The Szechuan-style Chilli Beef is the best, it tastes great and comes in a large portion. The Singapore Fried Vermicelli is also nice. However, the Vegetable Fried Rice is not good—it’s too oily, tastes bad, and the portion is small. The Sour Cabbage Fish Fillets are also disappointing, there’s too much starch on the fish, it doesn't taste fresh, and the overall flavor is bad.
Every dish was amazing! The flavours were very local, authentic, and comforting — truly helped solve my homesickness. The beef was tender and the crispy chicken was especially delicious with the perfect crunch. A super satisfying meal. Highly recommended!
Great service and fast turnaround. Quite enjoyed the blue cod. Didn’t have crayfish. The whitebait was ok. This place got a lot of potential. Service was the highlight.
Excellent food and great service. The dishes were fresh, authentic, and full of flavour. the manager was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit. Their warm hospitality made us feel right at home and added to the overall dining experience. Highly recommend this Chinese restaurant if you’re in Wanaka.
