Absolutely loved the food here! While it’s a bit pricey, it’s definitely worth every penny. The dishes were exceptional. We shared one starter, two mains, and two sides between the two of us, and every single dish was a delight. Honestly, I didn’t expect to find such a fantastic restaurant in a small town like Wanaka. Everything was excellent.nnMake sure to book a table as early as possible—like right now—because this place is a must-visit! Highly recommended.
Definitely one of, if not the, best in Wanaka. Absolutely loved the food and thought it was very good value. Service was attentive and pleasant. The only knock would be the very bright lights, which seems to be a normal thing across NZ. All good, I'd still come back many times over. Highly recommend the beef tartare, the croquettes, and the whole fish.
After arriving in New Zealand 5 weeks ago, we tried NZ meat several times, but were not satisfied with the taste.nBut at the Kika, we finally found and tasted excellent one, lamb shoulder.nIt was well cooked, well seasoned.nMeat itself was also good not too lean, not to fatty.nI am sure I will return to Kika again, when I visit to Wanaka in the future.nPhotos were taken after we started the meal, so platting is little bit different from original, haha!
After two weeks of traveling in New Zealand, this restaurant has been our absolute favorite so far! The food is not only delicious but also introduces interesting new flavors that we hadn’t experienced before. The concept is centered around sharing, which makes the meal even more enjoyable. Their recommendation—three starters, one main dish, and two sides to share—was perfect.nnOne thing we really appreciated was their attention to detail. Since I’m pregnant, I had mentioned my dietary restrictions when booking online. When we ordered, the waitress proactively checked my choices and let me know that one of the sides contained unpasteurized tahini, which isn’t recommended during pregnancy. She immediately offered to adapt the dish, and I truly appreciated her thoughtfulness.nnMy husband received a recommendation for a glass of local red wine, which he said was the best he’s had so far on our trip. I opted for a mocktail, which was also excellent. The only regret? We were too full to try dessert!nnThe food was outstanding, the service was impeccable, and we highly recommend booking a table in advance through their website. If you’re in the area, this place is a must-visit!
I dined at Kika in Jan 2025 and tried the salmon, which was just okay. However, the fried chicken was a standout—crispy and juicy! The lamb shank was also decent, and the portions were generous. The broccolini was fine too. Overall, a satisfying meal with some highlights!
