From the food to the service to the atmosphere, Kika provides you with a full culinary experience that I thought was reserved only for the upmarket areas of a big city. Wanaka is truly blessed to have a restaurant of this calibre in such a small town. Do yourself a favour and if you're staying here make sure you go to Kika. It's as magnificent as that bloody tree.
Great food. We did the chef's choice and the whole meal was fabulous. Great tofu and mushrooms, salmon, goat cheese, and duck.
As President of the Clean Plate Club, I can highly recommend the fish. The service was above and beyond common courtesy and at the level of truly nice and kind people wanting to host and provide the best quality food and hospitality.
A tapas styled restaurant where you share dishes with your table. The food is beautifully presented and the portions are generous, unlike other fine restaurants. The vibe is casual but elegant. The total bill came up to be very reasonable as well. Would recommend a visit when you are in Wanaka. You can easily make a reservation on their website.
This is simply superb food – up there with the best of any fine dining we’ve had in NZ and Australia.nAs is now common at fine dining restaurants, Kika eschews the traditional entrée-main-dessert in favour of sharing plates of a series of small dishes, and then 1 or 2 mains, a side or 2 and a dessert if you still have room.nIt’s not cheap, but for the quality of the food, service and restaurant setting, it’s well worth it.nThere’s plenty of veg, vegan and gluten-free options, and the superb staff will help you make the right choices, and make sure you don’t order more than you can eat.
