Picked up a car that required a rear facing baby seat suitable for a 7 week old baby only option when booking was 0 - 6 months, no place to out specific requirements. When we got to the car, which we had to wait for as it wasn't ready, the car seat was basically just a shell. There was no padding, no baby insert and the car seat was not secured properly and had been wedged in with the front seat to make it appear sturdy. Not to mention the fact it was filthy and made the whole car smell. When staff at the counter were asked about these issues they were quick to refer it to their manager which we appreciated. Unfortunately said manager couldnt be bothered to come and speak with us as he was apparently 'busy' and 'had a lot to do'. We then tried to seek a solution at Baby Bunting where their trained car installers didn't even want to touch the car seat due to their policy of reinstalling an unsafe car seat. We ended up at Bargain Car Rental in Hobart City who then had to rectify the issue with a new car seat. The car seat Hobart Airport provided us was unsafe for our child to travel in and they showed no duty of care. If you can not supply the correct items they shouldn't be offered. Absolutely disgusting service. Only gave 1 star as the kid at the counter was as helpful as he could be. Will definitely be making a formal complaint with Bargain Car Rental head office.

I had a terrible experience with this rental car company.  The car was old and had a lot of damage, including a spider web on the mirror and various dents on the body. The tires were worn out and the wheel alignment was not done properly, which made for a very uncomfortable and dangerous ride.  The passenger door kept randomly getting stuck and when I asked for a different car, I was flatly refused.  I should have paid more for better service from another rental company. Save yourself the hassle and avoid this company at all costs.

Very friendly from start to finish easy to deal with, car was brand new gave us a few discounts ended up cheaper than the original price and that was paying for full insurance which I would recommend just for the peace of mind.  Especially when driving in Tasmania as the roads are quite challenging.  Great company to deal with for us would recommend to anyone.

We were really happy with our experience with Bargain car rental: very friendly staff, the price was the cheapest we could find and the car was really good. There was 6 of us for a 10 day trip and every one was very comfy in the Kia Carnival. Strongly recommended for a Family.

This rental company definitely does have one of the cheapest options for rental cars… but at a significant cost. The service was very disappointing, we given an ETA of 20-25 minutes, and I can confidently tell you that we had been waiting for over an hour to get our car. The car had spiderwebs on it when we received it. It’s definitely more worth spending a little bit extra on a nicer rental company unless you have hours to waste.

The staff were very polite, the condition report was accurate. The vehicle was well maintained. The pricing was extremely competitive and there was no hassle with returning the vehicle. I would highly recommend to my family and friends.

Easy to book online, and people at desk were fine to deal with however the pick-up process and condition of the vehicle was nothing less than unsatisfactory. Took an hour to get the keys to the vehicle, the vehicle had more than minor damage to key areas, spare tyre was bald, there was a mechanical issue apparent as soon as you started driving. The list goes on. RENTER BEWARE!

Excellent service from very friendly and helpful staff. The car was almost new and drove beautifully. Cost was less than all opposition. I'd give this company six stars if I could!

Booked online expecting a speedy check-in and exit. Still waiting after almost 45 minutes for car to be washed but now there’s tyre issues and NFI. “Two minutes” is 25 minutes and counting in their car hire world. Not happy Jan. At least they didn’t give our car away to another customer which happened.

Bargain Car Rentals were very pleasant to deal with before our arrival and in person at 8pm when we arrived. Three weeks driving a Hyundai Kona around Tasmania was very comfortable and problem free.
