We hired a high-top Camper Toyota (267,00km) for 11 days in Hobart, Tasmania. 
The vehicle was fine and the customer service helpful and polite.
We had taken out insurance in advance in the UK to waiver the damage excess so did not need to take out the company’s insurance.

Be aware however that in Australia a $5,000 bond is taken out of your bank account (£3,022) and this is not returned to you for up to 14 days after safe return of the vehicle. 
With Cruisin’, you are required to pay $100 admin for this transaction.

A great way to see Tasmania. Our 2 berth van was reliable, easy to drive (According to the "pilot") and apart from a temperamental water monitor, everything worked well. The GPS unit could use more regular updates but that didn't hinder our trip at all.
The staff and customer service was great, helped start and end our trip on a high. Would recommend getting the comprehensive coverage pack, as we got a chip in our windscreen and it was no hassle at all. Thanks again Cruisin, we'll be back to hire the "Millennium Galah" as soon as we can get back to Tassie!

The campervan we were given was not the model that we had ordered. The excuse given was that we had ordered through a 'third party'. Insisted on swapping to the vehicle we ordered as there was one nearby. After discussion with the manager we were finally given the proper vehicle as the other hirer hadn't turned up. Later heard staff member telling another customer their problem was caused by ordering through a 'third party'. After we were given van the customer service was very good. The vehicle we received was one that was over 4 years old and it had over 200,000 on the clock but it was great to drive and only had a bit of wear and tear in the interior.

Rented a 6 person campervan for 9 days in Tassie. Had a great trip, and the van was for the most part excellent. Easy to drive, pretty decent on fuel if you're light on the pedal (the trip computer reported 12.8 L/100km, but it was actually a bit higher in reality). The bedding doesn't work for 6 teenager+adult sized people, which we expected so had a tent with us. It'd be fine for 4 adult-sized people and 2 under around 140cm.

Only hassle we has was with the awning - it's extraordinarily fragile and poorly designed. The central support is held in place by a 3mm diameter plastic pin, which of course broke on us and in turn caused the support to fall out and buckle. Cruisin' billed us $1190 for that - I guess the cost of an entirely new awning - fortunately I had separate insurance. We only used the awning a couple of times, it's not worth the trouble or risk of breakage. I couldn't help but notice a stack of about a half-dozen busted awnings around the side of the Cruisin' office, must be a common issue. (So, why don't they use a stronger awning?).
