The Bandstand was first opened on 3rd December, 1921 by Australia's then Prime Minister William Billy Hughes to commemorate the memory of the Town Clerk, Frederick Jowett. As well as for private functions, over the years this historic bandstand has been used as a venue where local musicians including big bands, choirs and jazz groups have performed and for free concerts by organised by Friends of Caulfield Park. The concerts are a great way to enjoy the park on a lazy weekend afternoon.
The bandstand is a raised platform, right in the middle of Caulfield park. I often see people hosting kids parties here, which seems like a great idea as it is one of the few undercover facilities in the park.
This bandstand has great accoustics and was a delight to play in!
Great stand, unable to find the band.
Everything we hoped for and more
