I have been going to the Balaclava Deli for many years. The quality of their food is consistently excellent and their service is always friendly and very helpful. I live about 50 kms from Carlisle Street so once a month I head down there and load up with all the staples a nice Jewish Boy needs. - Gefilte Fish Like my Buba used to make - Chopped Liver Superb!! - Cholent Magnificent! - Herring drool worthy!! - Schnitzels YUM! - Chicken Soup Great! - Egg & Onion Salad So tasty I can eat a whole container at once! A great little shop that has been around for years and hopefully will be for many more. JJ

Just before New Year I have most horrible and humiliating expirence in that shop. Middle of the service , Pavel, owner of the shop, have phone call . His conversation was round 14 minutes. When I told him I am in a hurry he just turn his back on me. Simply unbelievable bad manners.

Store looked clean and presentable. Rather empty though, not very much selection at all. Major con would be minimum $20 spend on card. I wanted to purchase items less than that but left the store empty handed. I would pay a small fee to compensate for a purchase under $20. So minus a star there. Home made food looked very nice and authentic As mentioned very tiny selection, so I would not visit again for items but I would to purchase the home made food

This place has the worst customer service ever..the owner specially the woman needs to learn some manners in regards to dealing with their customers ..if there was negative stars i would give them minus five star..
