I visited Coles South Melbourne on 17/05/2026 between 8:15pm and 8:40pm and observed concerning behaviour from a staff member unloading frozen food. The employee was throwing cartons across the floor toward freezer sections rather than handling stock properly. When I raised it, I was told “it’s only cardboard,” even though the cartons contained frozen food products for customer consumption.nnI then spoke with the manager, who said he would speak to the staff member but asked me not to report it because the employee was young and a student. I found this response equally concerning.nnThis is not acceptable handling of food products in a supermarket environment, especially while customers are still shopping in-store. I hope Coles takes proper steps to address staff training and store standards.
I am a die hard Woolworths shopper, but this Coles is not only well laid out but it has the most diverse range of items here and feels more like a Food merchant. A chef’s dream place for a quick grocery shop
Great spot. 13 Ailes. Nice looking store. Parking area.nNational outage affecting the checkouts today. Not enough front-end staff to cope with the issue. Bad distribution of resources. Imagine rolling out an update with a bug in it just before the busiest time of year. Incomprehensible nMilk at the back where else.
This Coles has a great range of products, much better than the nearby ones
Man just look at how narrowly spaced are the aisles.
