Very disappointing- not the fresh food people at all. I’ve been caught out multiple times now buying items that are already past their use by dates, or due to expire the next day. I only recently started shopping at this branch, as it’s close to a work site, but I won’t be going back. Never have these issues at the Malvern branch. I was at the South Melbourne store last weekend and there was a trolley next to a meat fridge. The trolley was stacked with meat products, and no staff member nearby. Walked passed a few times within approximately 10 minutes. No sign of anyone. Who knows how long the meat sat out, un-refrigerated. Deli and checkout staff were lovely though. Clearly understaffed as they can’t keep on top of use by dates
Never enough checkouts with actual people serving. Get rid of the self serve checkouts, stop price gouging, bring back proper friendly customer service
Very handy if staying at some of the Apartments nearby. Good for breakfast foods or a lunch salad.
Honestly, not much to recommend from this store outside of location.nnProduce is poor, primarily the fruit which is often bruised and clearly has been frozen. The deli counter closes early, and you are lucky to find a hot chicken after 7pm.nnThe checkouts are infuriating if doing a large shop late at night with only the express lanes open. The self checkouts are filthy and rarely cleaned by staff besides the screen.nnSince the renovation, the Coles up the road is a much better option
