I was here today 4 MAY 2026 to get some groceries. Although I am from Singapore, I am not unfamiliar with this Coles supermarket in Melbourne Central as I used to stay nearby off Swanston Street. It is nice to see this Coles supermarket doing well in the busy area of Melbourne Central. While the aisles here are a tad narrower than the usual Coles supermarket, the variety of products therein are convenient to customers passing through and/or using Melbourne Central and its namesake train station and now, also the State Library Metro Tunnel Station.
Rotten, discoloured veggies for sale at Melbourne Central Cole next to the station. It happened a lot lately. 0% quality check and I wonder who is the manager in charge of that department???nnPlease bring back the friendly girl short hair with glasses who is very efficient in the morning at the service counter always happy and smiling. Every time when Hiruna is working he has his back facing the cash register pulling a face. I waited this morning as usual so I left him my feedback. He replied he has mornings duty to perform. Wow! All I saw was him rubbing his name badge and not wearing a badge. Multiple times while waiting to be serve at the counter, Hiruna avoid eyes contact even though he saw you, he kept you waiting. Is not just one incident. In the morning, is rush time. If you need to perform morning duty maybe you are not the right person to be at the front counter??? Is he even the right person to serve customers?
This supermarket is located at the bottom of the mall. The items are quite complete, ranging from daily necessities, frozen foods, bread, biscuits, and more. The prices are reasonable. It's quite comfortable shopping here.
Decent shopping experience with a wide selection of items. Was fairly crowded when I was there. Easy to find entering the station from La Trobe—just go down one level. The self-checkout kiosks were normal and not overly-touchy/annoying you know what I mean. Prices were a bit steep, but I’m from the USA for context.
So love this store the mostest! Great staff and and massive range, handy to the city loop Melbourne Central and is located down the bottom level. Usually clean. The hot food is great too. Has chicken hot packs and fresh sammiches etc. I really like how nice the staff are to me here! Lots of registers too
