The Doctors Onehunga

If I could give a minus star I would. I am a member of this clinic not for much longer though. I paid my $52 for a walk-in, having expected this. I have done this before and not had to wait more than 1 hr. The receptionist was warning everyone that there would be a 2 hr wait. I then watched a procession of obviously well known long term clients come in with non-urgent problems. After 2hrs I was listening to them at reception. Each one of these clients was put ahead of me and like another review the receptionists kept smirking at me while I sat there. I asked after 2.5hrs how much longer they thought it would be and I was told I was next only to see multiple clients get put ahead of me. I was not the only one. There was a man with a crushed thumb also waiting 4 hrs plus a mother with 2 well behaved smaller children. In total 4 of us. By this time I hadn't eaten for most of the day and if they had have told me how long it was going to be I would have gone and bought lunch. I was then seen by the most uninterested doctor ever. Asked hardly any questions and sent me for a blood test. No follow up after one week. I still don't know what is wrong with me and it is still ongoing. This used to be a great clinic when I first joined nearly 2 years ago with lots of part-time doctors filling in over the busy times and great practice nurses. The doctor I used to see is gone and none of the others seem interested in treating anyone they don't know.nKaye Pilkington

CHEL IDEA. The receptionist who is working on night shift. Weds 9th August 2025.nnThe absolute worst experience. I had a phone appointment at 6:30 pm then my daughter at 6:45. My phone has issues when u call. So asked if doctor could call my husbands phone. Which he did. My Husband then explains I’m too sick and ended up staying home. So my husband explained my phone situation. I missed the drs call. But I called the Onehunga local doctor back cause that’s where the missed call came from. I call and the receptionist . Omdays! She said there’s no doctor that called me and disregards everything after I explain… No help, no empathy, no understanding, not one skill for customer service. Didn’t try and better the situation, didn’t wanna walk to the doctor and ask if he’s trying to get through to me.nnAfter wasting ten mins of both our time I leave the call frustrated & annoyed.nnAfter 5 mins guess who calls, the so called doctor that wasn’t there. I explained how horrible she was and unhelpful and I said I was going to drop this complaint but nah. Chel Idea if that’s even your name I hope you better your people skills, because you are the last person who should be dealing with patients if this is your approach. You made no effort at all.nnThank God for the amazing Doctor who took care of me. Such an incredible Doctor that you said didn’t exist or wasn’t there.

Paid double for an extended session to discuss my mental health with a 'new' doctor. Ended up feeling even worse after. Felt unheard. Tone was condescending and unsympathetic. Advice was unhelpful. Told to just google a psychologist myself despite financial woes. Was also told to manage my own health record with a certain website. When I couldn't sign up for said website, was then informed by reception that this clinic doesn't even actually use that website...nThe H.I.P who saw me afterwards however, was absolutely amazing, warm-hearted and professional, so thank you.

I have been going to Onehunga 'The Doctors' for 21 years and cannot fault them. My favorite doctor is Dr Oxner - shame he doesn't have booked appointments but will continue to pay the walk-in fee and take pot luck on wait times to specifically see Dr Oxner. He is always extremely thorough and incredibly knowledgeable.nI love 'The Doctors app', it's great being able to see your lab results, medications etc in one place and the convenience of being able to request repeat prescriptions through the app.nI moved from Greenlane to Avondale 2 years but remain with The Doctors Onehunga - will travel the distance for something that I see as being this goodnnWell done 'The Doctors Onehunga' for great service

Where do they The Onehunga doctors get off charging pensioners $71 for walk in? or any other age group, then wait 40 minutes and to make matters worse there was only one other patient there. I don't know their story behind why they charge so much, The Onehunga doctors don't deserve to be rated But to get my review posted I had to pick one.. *I did ask for a refund which the receptionist said yes but I had to go back for it because the admin card was not there, then the doctor comes out and calls me in HOW CONVINIENT I am going back to my original doctor.
