We were on our honeymoon here in Rotorua and we couldn't miss this part. The guide was charming, everything was very easy with him. We were surprised to be able to see the kiwi. They have two, a male and a female. They told us that they were very territorial and it was lucky to be able to see them. Afterwards we saw the entire thermal part and he told us many Maori things. Finally we finished in the part of the museum that was also very interesting. Highly recommended.
Amazing it is a guided tour only due to Health & Safety regulations. We got there just after 11 am, and the next tour was at 12noon, best to try and time your visit, so not hanging around waiting on the tour...was well worth the visit, and the guide was very knowledgeable.
The cultural show and traditional art exhibit were top-notch highlights of our trip! It was awesome to immerse ourselves in the local culture. Plus, witnessing the natural mud and hot water geyser was mind-blowing—a sight you definitely don't want to miss!
Highly recommend paying this place a visit. Geo Thermal spectacle that will have you in awe of the power.nnI would recommend visiting during the day as there is more to see, and the air temperature means the geyser is more visible than the night when the cooler air leaves more of a steam event. Although the night visit is a cool experience during the day will give you better bang for your buck
The walking tour has two parts. One where they actually take you to the geothermal areas and the heated mud pools. The other one where they show you the three different schools based on Maori culture. The guides were very patient and answered all the questions. While returning back they had an option to take the bus so you didn't have to walk all the way back.
