Pohaturoa Track Whaka lower Lookout

Track starts at the Redwoods I-site following the yellow track. Easy enough, unpaved and wide track shared with bikers and horses. 40mins to the lookout itself. Yellow track is 2hrs circuit including lookout. Nice view out over the geyser and town. Try to time it so that the geyser is spurting usually every hour for 10 minutes

This is a good 2 hour trek if you do the whole circuit. Don't expect to be in the Redwoods all the time but expect a variety of scrubby bush, beautiful Redwoods, lovely pongas, Fantastic views and wonderful birdsong. So if you're looking for a walk with variety then this is for you. Go do it!!!

Great walking track, very easy. The view up here is worth the hike.

Best place to come see the overlook of the city

You have to pass through this village to get to the track. Even if you don't want to go into this village. The people there won't let you in. This is something I didn't know before coming. Disappointed.sad.nDon't come until the virus disappears. They won’t let you in, don’t waste timenin Nov 2020
