Skyline Rotorua is famous for its Luge, which is an extremely fun, family-friendly activity. The adventure starts with a scenic gondola ride up with panoramic views of the city and the lake.nnThe staff are friendly, helpful, and focused on safety, making the entire experience enjoyable and stress-free.nnThe Luge has multiple tracks available, ranging from easy to advanced. They are safe and well-designed with an automatic backing system if you let go of the handlebar.nnI would strongly suggest purchasing the gondola + 5 Luge rides package, as this seems to be the perfect amount. It is often best to visit on a weekday morning to avoid crowds.nnThis is an absolute muat-do activity that is fun, safe and unforgettable.
Rotorua is famous for its volcanoes and geothermal activity, so most attractions here are naturally formed. Skyline, on the other hand, is one of the few man-made parks in New Zealand that truly offers fun for the whole family.nnThe Luge is the highlight and an absolute must-try. It’s like a DIY, nature-enhanced version of a roller coaster — you can enjoy the thrill of speeding downhill, or take your time and cruise slowly while soaking in the scenery. You set your own pace, which makes it suitable for almost everyone.nnThe gondola ride back to the top offers great views of the city and the lake, so you’re essentially getting two experiences for the price of one.nnFirst-timers might have trouble judging the speed — going too slow like a snail or too fast like you’re about to fly off the track. But don’t worry, even if you overshoot a little, it’s generally safe. The slopes aren’t too steep and the safety measures along the track are well thought out.nnI can guarantee that people from 8 to 80 will enjoy it. I’ve come here many times with friends and family, and it has basically become our once-a-year tradition.
Visited Skyline Rotorua Luge in September 2025 and it was such an amazing and fun experience for the whole family! The adventure starts with a scenic gondola ride up the hill, offering stunning panoramic views of Rotorua city, the lake and surrounding forest. Once at the top, the luge tracks are where the real excitement begins!nnThe staff were friendly, helpful and ensured safety at all times, which made the experience enjoyable and stress-free. Everything was well-organized, from getting helmets to boarding the chairlift back up for more rides.nnWe visited in early spring and the weather was perfect, cool air, clear skies and fewer crowds. After our luge rides, we stopped at the café to enjoy the view before heading down.nnSkyline Rotorua Luge is an absolute must-do activity, fun, safe and unforgettable. Perfect for all ages!
Most probably the highlight of our NZ trip!nOur family 2 adults, 18 yo + 16 yo bought the Gondola + Zipline + 5 Luge Rides Package. If there was a similar package but with 10 luge rides instead I would suggest you purchase that - it was bloody fantastic!nThe zipline was quick and thrilling, but the best part of our day was the luge rides. Cannot recommend this highly enough!nWe also had coffee and pastries from the cafe, was delicious, fresh and warm!
We did the Luge on a Saturday and the place was packed! Two out of the 5 tracks were closed, but we bought access for 2 luges only so it didn’t matter. After having it done twice we didn’t feel the urge to buy more tickets so we made the right decision. Place is well run, has a gift shop with great value stuff and it’s a fun activity in Rotorua all together! My only complaint is that they don’t provide hair nets for the helmets so you get stuck with a helmet that someone else just wore..
