Loved this experience! The whole thing lasts for 3 hours and includes dinner, a bush walk, and cultural experiences. It's very well curated and well paced. The food was delicious and I really enjoyed learning more about the Maori culture of that area. I think everyone should experience this at least once. The grounds are beautiful and performances were fantastic! BONUS: You get to see the glow worms! No need to go to Waitomo caves! Just come here and get it all in one!
This experience is a must do! The family at Mitai are perfect hosts. You can see their passion and love for their culture. It was a beautiful experience learning about their culture and seeing the traditions. Not only were they professional and created an enjoyable experience but they were warm and welcoming as well. This was one of my highlights of visiting NZ. The food was great as well! Definitely a must see and do !
The experience was great, including a walk by the small river with the war canoe and warriors chanting. It was a beautiful walk. Then later the same walk with glowworms along it.nnThe performance was entertaining and well done, and helps understand and respect the culture more. The performers did great, and added some good humor too.nnThe dinner was amazing, and filling. At the end there was some Q and A, which was interesting. The downside to the Q and A was that the group was much larger than I had expected. It didn't necessarily surprise me, but it made transitioning a bit slow and it made parts of the Q and A a little too specific to individuals peculiar questions. Some of the answers seemed brushed over or that the answers were vague. So the main host and her conversations were a little choppy.nnOverall, still an experience worth it, but we haven't tried any of the other Maori experiences, so we can't compare.
I've always been fascinated by Maori culture, especially their Haka dance performed by the All Blacks. With high expectations I went to this experience and this totally lived up to my expectations. Right from start to the end, everything was well organized. The Hangi/food was delicious. The host was simply fantastic, friendly and very knowledgeable. The performance by the Maori artists was top-notch and they were truly passionate. Every minute of this experience was totally worthwhile and authentic. I highly recommend this activity in Rotorua.
The Mitai Maori Village dinner and experience was absolutely amazing. From start to finish, everything was so well done. The food was simply awesome – delicious, fresh, and cooked in a traditional hangi style, which made it extra special.nnThe host was fantastic, welcoming everyone with warmth and humor, making us feel right at home. The chief was a standout – funny, entertaining, and full of great energy. He shared stories and traditions in such a way that it was both educational and fun.nnThe performances, songs, and dances were stunning, and the cultural insights they shared left us in awe. My boys loved the Haka and wanted to see more and actually learn how to do some of it. The walk through the forest to see the glowworms and sacred spring added a magical touch to the whole evening.nnIt was an awesome experience and if you’re ever in Rotorua, this is a must-visit.
