Scenic Hotel Dunedin City

This is a 2 star hotel. Good service, the staff are great. Hotel is like going back in time. The rooms feel like hospital rooms. They are “fine”, but you just want to get out and not spend any time there. Low budget hotel, it’s important to know what you’re getting. I think the website makes it look much nicer and modern than it is in reality.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Room was spacious, clean and even though it was facing the street, it was surprisingly quiet. The restaurant and room service food were delicious. And to top it up, the staff, especially Sheila and Nicole, were very friendly and accommodating. Amenities were topped up. They even changed the type of tea available - probably because they thought I might not have liked the ones that were provided initially. Thank you for making my stay enjoyable. Would definitely stay here again - business or leisure.

Great stay. Lovely & quiet. Rooms were clean, well stocked & had everything needed. Plus the surprise wee extras the yummy biscuits. Nice touch. Thank you

This was my first time visit to the Scenic Hotel and not impressed at all. I often travel to Dunedin for work, and this would not be my first choice for the following reasons: -nService at front desk with room service was good. However, the room itself was disappointing. Room was not clean - See attached photo of nails on the floor. Bed was not properly made up when I returned to the room. Tried using the iron but this was not achievable because it was not clean - Sticking to my shirt. Shower facilities was also not cleaned. I travel constantly for the business and comparing this to other places I have stayed - This is really not good value. I understand some hotels are not new and modern but could be well maintained and clean.
